“An incredibly strongly worded letter,” Tabitha reiterated, her scowl still planted on her face.

Yeah, but you spend a lot of time with me, too, especially lately. And, let’s be honest, there are more perks to spending time with me than there are with Polly. I never liked any of those girls, they were all so fake and so boring. It’s hard to believe, I know, but I was even more of an asshole back then than I am now. –All night sounds like the perfect plan to me.

Well, yeah, since you kind of parked your butt on my sofa. Not that I mind --I like having you here. Are you sure? Lay some of them on me. They hated me and it was kind of hilarious. One tried to shove me out of the way, remember that? I almost popped one of her surgically inflated breasts. So hard to believe. --Then maybe in the morning too.

“No offense, but you jumping into conclusions is kinda shitty too”, she nodded back at the short girl in front of her. “This girl could be a stalker. I could be a women in trouble asking for some help. Or just making a excuse to talk about this so you can help me figure out what to do”, she trailed off, looking down at her. “Don’t judge people by one sentence, please”. 

“If you were a woman asking for help, you’d sound a lot more troubled than that,” Tabitha mused, rolling her eyes. “You sound too breezy to be dealing with a creepy stalker. Even if you were trying to play it off as nothing is wrong, there still would be some element of fear.”

Well, guys are dumb. They don’t really have that sense in them that discerns what they’re doing is wrong. You need any help?

Not all guys are dumb, but this one certainly was. I’ll let you know if I do... I’m thinking up ways to spook him.

Cheating is too common nowadays and I hate that. He did though, and I’m out to make sure he can’t ever get a hard on again.

Seems to be that both you and your mother are spending way too much of your times with someone who doesn’t deserve it the least bit. I get the feeling of vengeance, but there is nothing better than indifference, people are really bothered by that.

My father cheated on my mother when I was in grade school... Betrayal and us Hughes women has never really gone hand in hand.

“Hey, you!”, she raised her voice so the person passing by could hear her. “Can you please pick up this call for me? It’s the girl from last night and I’m really not in the mood for that”, she offered the phone. “If you scream it’s a plus”

“Excuse me?” Tabitha turned her head, her eyes narrowing in on the woman speaking to her. “No offense, but that’s kind of shitty of you. She probably wanted to thank you for a fun time.”

“You won an award?” Charlotte asked surprisingly, a smile flashing across her face and then dying out when she realized how weird it was that this was a surprise to her. In other times she would have known probably right away, either as soon as Tabitha got back from the award show, or as soon as she stepped down from accepting it *probably with invitations for a celebration of some kind, even if it was just pizza and movies), but she shook off the nagging feeling with a sip to her wine, placing her smile back on. “I’m very proud of you, that is such a huge step in your career. I’m sure that you’ll be as twice as busy now.” 

“I am... Kind of.” Tabitha scratched the back of her neck as it hit her just how different her and Charlotte’s relationship had become in the matter of weeks. She wasn’t sure what had happened --she’d certainly made time for her friend and never put her on the backburner. Maybe they were becoming too different, however Tabitha was still not shy about voicing how she felt. “Something isn’t right.”
