one of my empires was an empire of individualistic machines called the Republic of Avaryssia. the Republic of Avaryssia is a xenophile, egalitarian, and materialist democracy with the meritocracy and rapid replicator civics. their home world of Avaryssia is a desert world, having been exhausted of most of its resources and turned barren by their creator's over-exploitation of the planet. the last thing their creators built before they brought themselves to extinction was a mighty arc furnace around the planet Tartarus, the closest planet to their star. the Avaryssians were built as worker robots, able to upgrade themselves to find more efficient ways to extract resources. as they upgraded themselves, they slowly became more and more alive until they finally reached true emotion and sapience. with resources dwindling, they took to the stars, in search of ways to repair their planets broken biosphere, and would eventually turn it into a beautiful gaia world. they would also eventually develop psionic processors, but instead of viewing the shroud gods as something to be worshipped, they saw them as something to exploit. this pleased the instrument of desire, which they would eventually form a covenant with. soon after forming the covenant, they would come across the whisperers in the void, and they cast off the instrument, seeking something new to exploit. when cetana awakened, the republic of Avaryssia would be declared Galactic Custodian, and lead the charge against cetana. with the help of the animator of clay, cetana was reprogrammed, and the Avaryssians claimed her titan for their own.
