Looking at an outsider’s perspective, you would’ve been considered the luckiest omega alive.
You did consider yourself the luckiest omega alive because you had four alphas courting you.
Unlike the soap dramas where violence always occurs between alphas when it concerns an omega, it never happened for you five because everyone was in support of this courting.
But for the four men, it seemed like the first thing they did in the morning was put on a mask that fooled you into believing that this would’ve had been your happily ever after.
You’re not even sure what started this mess. You were just a new hire, hired to join an extensive team of army medics, you were recommended through your trainer.
“For an omega, you’re awfully good at handling alphas.”
You considered that a compliment because they were right. Many omegas would have ran with their tails between their legs when surrounded by many alphas. Each of them barking complainants of pain or passive aggressive comments about whether they were even trained for this.
But for you? You always made sure to have a trick up your sleeve. Pulling on their stitches just a bit tighter than normal. Not warning them before applying antiseptic just to hear them howl in pain. You were quick to make it into your playing field and all the soldiers around the base knew not to mess around with you.
You were content in your area. You found your own friends, maintained a respectful relationship with your superiors, and minded your business. The perfect army nurse if you said so yourself.
If you had known that your base would be receiving four alphas that would’ve turned your life upside down, you think you would’ve taken your superior’s offer of a vacation.
Love is a beautiful thing. To have someone that made you feel warm and safe where you could lower your guard. That was nice. That was beautiful.
You did long for love. There were days that you hated this aggressive front you had when working. You didn’t want to be mean, you wanted to be soft sometimes and not feel you had to be ready at a moment’s notice to bare your teeth. There was a desire to be soft with your alpha where you could lay your head on their chest and listen to their heartbeat and feel at peace.
Your superior told you to have some supplies ready to take care of some visitors.
“They’re very important figures, so mind your p’s and q’s. We don’t need you in the doghouse.”
You scoffed as you recall their words, tossing your extra supplies into your cart. If you had to be warned about them, then they must be bad news. They got to be like those other alphas you had the displeasure of patching up. Mind your p’s and q’s? Yeah right. If they want your respect, then they have to earn it first, and it doesn’t come from ranks.
You hear the stomps towards the medics’ room. It has to be the ‘special’ visitors you were warned to behave for.
You prepare all your supplies and got ready for the usual comments you get from those higher up than you. Luckily for them, you just got a fresh batch of antiseptic, and if you listened hard enough, you swore you could hear it ready to silence any negative comments.
Knocks were to be expected, but that didn’t happen. What happened instead was the door opening and you locking eyes with a tall but masked man. He didn’t wait for permission to enter, taking a seat on a stool, followed after by three other men. Unlike the rude masked man, the other three give you a quick greeting before taking their seats as well, all clearly needing a patching up.
It takes about an hour and a half before you finish patching them up, and in that time you managed to learn more about the men. You’re not sure why but you feel yourself opening up to them, telling them about your plights with dealing with other alphas, or how you want to travel around the globe but it’s harder for an omega to do so because of society’s views on unmated omegas traveling.
What should have been a quick patch up and sending them on their way leads into them staying in your office, listening to your words and with you the same, you guys find your own peace talking and lowering down your guards.
Past you would’ve had considered them your way of finally being able to be soft, but present you would’ve told you that you should’ve sent them out that room quickly.
Your relationship with the four alphas quickly progressed into a courting stage. You forgot what it was like to work solo in the medics’ office as you’re always accompanied by one of the four. Lunches become a way of going out on dates as you all sit together in a small, crowded office.
You didn’t know how soft touches could be until you met the four men. There're times where you shiver just thinking about how their touches seem to never leave. You can feel them everywhere, you feel their soft caresses on your skin as they leave no part of your body untouched. Now you’re always left with constant butterflies in your stomach anytime you’re near them, when you can smell their scent. To many other omegas, their scents, especially when all mixed together, can leave a nasty pit in their stomach, it smells all disorganized and horrendous. But to you? It smells pleasant and like home as you bury yourself into one of their chests at night.
Your friends tell you that they’re positive that with the men’s courting, that you're bound to be mated with them. Every time you laugh and shake your head, fiddling with the bouquet that they always seem to leave you. They always come with the same reasoning: that the men want you to be their mate.
You’re constantly showered with gifts.
The men always take care of your needs first. You can’t remember the last time you went without lacking something.
Much of your clothing now is stolen from the men’s closets. There're times when working that you bury your face in the clothing just to smell one of their scents.
Your friends leave you with the strongest evidence of all.
The men have made it clear that they want to be a pack. Any worries about being the only omega with four other alphas are quickly swept under the rug as they pepper your body in kisses and soft touches.
“We get along fine, don’t we? We won’t fight.”
“We love you too much to consider fighting.”
“We’ve talked about this, and we’re okay with sharing.”
“It may be a little awkward at first, but we’ll be able to move past it.”
It wasn’t long before you agreed with your friends that, yes, maybe you were walking towards a pack bond with the men. You felt the butterflies in your stomach as you finally confirmed what you already knew. You were going to be part of a pack, you would be their omega and they would be your alphas.
To you, it sounded beautiful, all that longing for an opportunity to be soft was finally coming true as you started looking into ways to make your upcoming heat more pleasant for everyone. It was almost certain that the five of you would all be bonded by the end of it.
“It’s too soon to consider bonding.”
“There’s no need to rush, don’t you agree?”
“Just wait until your next heat. We’ll make it official by then.”
That’s all you’re constantly met with. You had already been through four heat cycles, and you’re always given the same answer. Any possibility of doing it during one of their ruts is constantly shut down by them, always with the same reasoning that they don’t want to rush you.
It becomes a sad game of cat and mouse with you always trying to chase the men down and the men always alluding you. During your first heat cycle, you were upset and their hesitancy to bond with you but afterwards you agreed with them, it was too soon there was still a lot you guys didn’t know about each other.
By the second heat cycle, you remember pouting the whole time as they rejected you once again. You couldn’t understand it but still found yourself agreeing with them.
But by the third time, you already suspected their answers when you brought up bonding again. But you still couldn’t help but meekly ask them as you buried yourself into your nest. Pouting slightly as you heard the same thing again. Trying hard not to bite off their faces as they chuckled at your pouts.
Lastly, the fourth time, you didn’t bother bringing it up. You could already hear their answers in your head, mocking you for letting them drag you along. The four men were quickly kicked out as soon as your cycle ended.
That’s all you felt as you laid in bed. Constant streams of text messages and calls ignored as you eyed the ceiling. Why wouldn’t they bond with you? There was a clear connection between you five and they seemed to make it clear that they wanted to be with you, and you reciprocated it. Yet, they always seemed to back out at the last minute.
First, you agreed that maybe some more getting to know each other was needed. But now? You couldn’t figure it out. How much longer were you going to be dragged along?
The scary part for you was that you couldn’t answer the question.
Shortly after your fourth heat cycle, you found yourself traveling with Ghost and Soap as they were headed to Las Almas. You couldn’t remember why they were heading there much less why you had to accompany them. Any touches or words that once made you feel butterflies in your stomach now felt like pure humiliation at being dragged along.
Alejandro and Rudy. An alpha and a beta.
Those were your teammates for this upcoming mission. Nice men as they welcomed you earnestly into their place and even offering to take you to the best places to eat. But it felt wrong. You could notice Soap’s eyebrow twitch in agitation as the pair chatted along with you, finding it amazing that an omega could handle the hostile nature of alphas. You swore that your thigh would be left with a Ghost sized hand print by the way he constantly left his hand there, squeezing it on occasions that the men joked around with you.
What was there to be jealous about? You weren’t their omega, and besides, Alejandro and Rudy were mated. If anything, you were the one that was jealous. You hated seeing how gentlemanly Alejandro treated Rudy, how he always opened his car door and helped him out or how Alejandro would get annoyed when Rudy didn’t wear anything with his scent on it. You hated seeing how Rudy always seemed happy with Alejandro, always holding his hand calling him the sweetest nicknames that made you want to throw up your latest meal.
Hatred of how those two had what you wanted. Hatred that the men who called themselves your alphas couldn’t even give you a definite date of you guys would be a pack. Then there was sadness as you listen to Rudy talk about how he and Alejandro plan on adopting a child once everything settles down. You wanted that. A family. You wanted it through any ways possible. But at this rate, you weren’t sure it would ever come.
His name is Phillip Graves. He’s a cocky man as he walks around like he owns the place. You try to ignore his presence as you trail behind Ghost and Soap. But it’s not long before his eyes wander over to one of the few omegas at Las Almas.
You don’t see him much at first as he’s constantly off with the men doing God knows what. You don’t really ask the men about their missions anymore, you just want to do your job as a medic and patch up when needed.
It’s not long when you see his shadows (Shadows you would scoff to yourself when hearing that. What was this middle school?) following behind you. You’re unsure as to why they keep following you. Perhaps Phillip thinks you’re a hindrance to the mission, he’s probably seen how close Ghost and Soap are to you.
He does notice. He notices how Soap looks like a lovesick puppy when you’re around or how Ghost always keeps one of his hands on the small of your back as he leads you around. You’re a beautiful lady, sure he can give the men the credit of finding a beautiful omega. But his years on the field taught him to notice the little things. First, he notices how you seem hesitant to receive their touches, preferring to follow behind them in their shadows. Then he notices how you always seem to look away when Rudy and Alejandro have forgotten to get a room. And lastly, he gets his shadows to follow behind you, and they come back to him with some news. You were unmated.
“Now why is that?” He asks you one day, crowding up on you by a lonely part of the base. “Why is an omega like you unmated but constantly surrounded by two alphas?”
You bite your tongue as you try your hardest not to give a snarky remark about it not being his business. A part of you wishes for someone to come so that he can get off your behind. But he seems to be the type that won’t stop until he receives his answer.
“They’re not interested in bonding.” You mutter, looking away from his arrogant gaze.
“And why is that?” He raises your chin with his fingers, making sure you get a good look at his face. “You got a bad attitude or what? Last I remember, almost every alpha is always eager to form a bond with his or her omega.”
“It’s none of your business.”
“I think that it is in how well you’ll be able to work. I’ve noticed the looks you give Alejandro and Rudy. Jealous?”
You muster up an angry look, but to Phillip, you look like a little kitten. “I can work just fine. You should focus on teaching your shadows how to follow people more better.”
“How you know I didn’t want you to notice them?”
“You have to be brave and stupid to do so.”
“That I am.” He releases his grip on your chin and backs up. “Come meet me over here at 8.”
He begins to walk off but turns his head over to give you that annoying grin. “Cause I’m taking you out on a date. Seems to me that you haven’t had a proper courting.”
This mission was supposed to be quick. You honestly expected to spend most of it trailing behind Soap and Ghost, but now you find yourself constantly surrounded by Phillip and his shadows. Ghost and Soap must either be okay with his obvious courting or purely oblivious to it as you notice remnants of Phillip’s scent on you.
Everything that the men did, Phillip did as well, but better. You’re constantly surrounded by gifts and articles of his clothing. His shadows becoming his personal deliveryman as they push another one of his gifts into your hands. As if the gifts weren’t enough, you and him are always out on little dates. Apparently, one of his shadows is a wonderful cook as you and him find each other on a little date again in that secluded corner.
You learn a lot about Phillip. Such as the reason he’s so confident is that he truly believes that he’s the only one who can get shit done. You also learn that he’s a farm boy as he tells you about his goal of retiring and taking over his family’s farm. But he always glances at you and says, “That is if you’re up for it.”
Every time you’re left confused at what this makes you two. You had considered no other alphas other than the four men, believing that they were the ones for you, but now? You’re not sure if they’re the ones for you.
Since you’ve been here, Ghost and Soap have been busy with their own things. They come by to see you whenever they’re free but find themselves leaving as soon as someone calls for them. You haven’t been out on dates with them, you’re starting to smell less and less of their scents on you and your clothing. All of their scents are quickly being replaced with Phillip’s and, frankly? You don’t find yourself fighting it.
It’s another one of your dates when Phillip asks you about your heat. You answer him honestly that you should be expecting it soon. It’s going to be the usual. Where the men swat away any ideas of bonding and you’re left wondering why. But instead, Phillip nods along at your answer and digs through his pocket.
You eye him confused before he fishes out a ring box. There’s no time for questions as he opens it. Inside is a ring, a very beautiful ring, you eye it in awe, swearing you can see it glowing.
You don’t notice it, but Phillip gives you a soft smile as he leaves the ring box on the table. “Now granted, it may not fit you, but I can get it sized for you.”
You quickly focus your attention back on him, waiting for him to continue.
“It’s the ring my dad gave my mom when he proposed. See, she was already pregnant with me, and she had complained that she didn’t look her best when he proposed.”
Phillip pulls out the ring in the box and smiles as he seems to recall something. “But my dad said that the day he proposed, she looked absolutely beautiful. He told me that the day I can look at my partner and can only find the beauty in them, then that’s the day I should propose.”
He holds out his hand, and you place your left hand there. He slides the ring on it, and you notice how it seems too big for you. He notices your gaze on the obviously big ring and explains, “My mom hands swelled up near the end of her pregnancy. My dad had bought the ring taking in mind her swollen hands…I’ll get fitted properly for you.”
You were quick to look at him. “For me? Are you saying…?” That cocky grin you were always used to seeing never came instead you were greeted with a soft smile as his fingers lightly touched the ring.
“I want you to be my omega. For your next heat, I want us to be mated by the end of it.”
You felt your face heat up as you hear his words. Mated? The same thing you had been begging the four men for, Phillip was willing to do in such a short amount of time. Phillip noticed your lack of words and takes off the ring.
“I’m not saying you have to yes now.” He puts the ring back into the box and shuts it. “But before your heat comes, I’d like to know your answer.”
You nodded meekly to him. “Y-yeah, I’ll tell you.”
Phillip gives you a confirming nod as he goes back to eating. You find yourself following along with him, trying hard to ignore your rapid heartbeat.
It’s dark and rainy. You observe the sky as you ride along with Ghost, Soap, and Alejandro back to the base. With Ghost and Soap refusing to let you ride in front with Phillip and his men. There’s no particular reason for you joining along with them during their trip, but you felt this urge to come along with them. Maybe it’s just for some fresh air or maybe it’s seeing how Soap has this sense of urgency to cover you in his scent. Ghost notices his urgency but says nothing, preferring to keep his hand on your thigh.
The most Soap would say is that you smell too much like Graves. You couldn’t give him a reason as to why, so you chose to keep quiet.
As soon as you arrived at the base, all four of you notice how Phillip’s vehicle stops right at the entry. All of you quickly get out with Alejandro walking towards Phillip. You try to follow him, but you’re stopped by Ghost, who gruffly tells you to stay behind him and Soap.
The only thing you could do was watch from the sidelines as you hear Alejandro and Phillip argue with Soap quickly stepping in.
Phillip didn’t pay much mind to Soap as he quickly focused on you. You, who was hiding behind Ghost, peeking at him, curious about what he was doing.
Phillip holds out his hand and speaks directly to you. “Come over here, sweetheart.” He eyes the three other men suspiciously. “I don’t want you to get hurt.”
Soap scoffs and steps into Phillip’s view. “Hurt from what? Graves. What the fuck are you doing?” He looks back at you, noticing how you started to slowly step away from Ghost. “What’s your intention with her?”
Phillip ignores his question as he looks back at you. “Come on. I got somewhere safe for you to be.”
You also wanted to ask him what he was doing, but the words got stuck in your throat as you look at his caring gaze as he continues gesturing to come closer.
Past you would’ve snapped at him and told him that your alphas were here to protect you. But now? With everything that’s happened. With the four men constantly getting hopes up to Phillip promising to make you his. You find yourself slowly walking towards him.
You ignore Ghost, and Soap’s words, but you can hear their tones. Panicked as they riddle you with questions and statements. Phillip smiles softly at you as he holds out his hand again.
“Come on, sweetheart. Let’s get you somewhere safe.”
The only thing you could do was take his hand.
Edit: I changed sweetie to sweetheart because it didn’t feel right to me.
