send me a fandom and i’ll tell you three things i would fix from canon

Oh jeez... Alright, let’s do this.

1. The shipping.

Obviously I had a ship preference (Zutara) but I’m not necessarily saying I would change the canon ships to suit my preferences - I just think they could have been written better in general. Or, better yet, left out completely. The main characters were a little young to be worrying about romantic love anyway.

2. The loose ends/unanswered questions.

I know they’re doing post-series comics that are considered canon to work some of these out, but I still think it would’ve been better to finish some of them within the framework of the show.

The biggest one, naturally, is the “what happened to Zuko’s mother” plot that gets LAMPSHADED in the finale. While I’m fond of “the Search” comics, I still think it woud’ve been better to see in the show.

3. Less filler.

This kinda relates to the second one, but I think several filler episodes could’ve been dropped in favor of episodes that went into other unanswered things more! I still want to know about the time Uncle Iroh went to the Spirit World after his son died, for example. They never explained that. :l

...

I’m also going to list a fourth fix I would make, but only because it’s a minor one and kind of nitpicky, but APPARENTLY it’s canon that Ursa is related to Roku through her mother. Which doesn’t make sense, really, because she would have been 75+ when Ursa was born to work within the timeline.

So, honestly, there probably should’ve been one more generation between Roku and Zuko at least, if not on Sozin’s side as well.

     Spy had been trailing the man in the shadows for the past few minutes, watching the water-bender’s every move. Every turn. He leaped between cover, building to building, waiting for his opportunity— an alleyway. Deserted. No one to see— he only had to keep him quiet.     Leaping down from the building, the non-bender acted fast— he was heard. His feet skid against the ground. Spy was impressed by the other’s vigilance, likely due to his experience guarding the Avatar. There was no room for mistake, assisting the last hope of a dying Empire.     Hardly mattered. From his robes, Spy retrieved his revolver.     ”Vhy are you pointing zhat gun at me…?" German accent. Unmistakable.     ”What is your affiliation with the Avatar?” To the point. He had to be sure— get what he could out of the other man, resort to violence if a fight arose.
