She is trying so very hard to keep her face straight. It’s incredibly difficult to keep her natural resting bitch face at any given moment when she’s around Steve, but he’s telling her stories of the past with those bright blue eyes and an almost childish excitement in his voice and she can hardly contain her fondness.
Until it happens. The moment when that word falls from his lips and her mask absolutely breaks to give way to a wide grin. She can’t even pay attention to the rest of the story anymore, entirely too distracted by it to the point of having to stop him and ask. “Did you just say cahoots?”
@captainbrogers
It’s raining outside. She remembers fearing thunder for a little while when she was little, but she’s always loved rain. The smell of it in the air, the sound of it against the window. She finds it calming.
Angel tries not to think too much about her time spent at the factory, a four year gap in her memories crisscrossed with barbed wire and do not enter signs. She knows it’s dangerous to go searching through that area, but she cannot remember rain during the time when she desperately sought any shred of soothing comfort as if her life depended on it. Her sanity certainly did.
A lifetime ago, she used to go jogging under the rain, at the risk of sickness and injury and the the promise of a scolding by her coach. She liked the weight of it on her body, the cold sinking into her bones, and how they were never able to stop her. She still jogs in the rain sometimes. There’s no need to worry about a cold when her mutation cured her of cancer, so it’s not exactly the same, but it still feels nice.
It’s raining outside and she doesn’t feel like going out, but she doesn’t quite want to stay in either. Maybe she poked at the scab too much and is now just waiting to see if it’ll start bleeding again.
“Steve.” She finally calls out, looking away from the inside of her skull and towards him. “Can I ask you something about the serum?”

Angel wasn’t actively linked to SHIELD anymore. Once they were able to find another mutant factory with her help, they kept their end of the deal and she was fully pardoned for her role in the shipyard incident and released from the contract. She was occasionally called in as a consultant though, and the fact that she was kinda sorta dating Captain America made it so she often found herself down at HQ.
That morning in particular, she’d been called in to review a lead on another possible factory location and was reading the case file on one of the break rooms when Steve walked in. It was the first time they’d seen each other after he cut another date short for the sake of going Avenging.
“Captain.” She greeted him like she usually did when they were at SHIELD, then turned her attention back to the papers.

Jim knew he shouldn’t have trusted her , that he had come too close to wanting to believe her. Dammit, Jim, he scolded himself mentally as he looked up from the floor, his body blossoming with new bruises already. “And so you sell me to the highest bidder, is that it?” He said hoarsely, knowing all too well that the type of people she was with would do anything to get their hands on a Federation officer, let alone a Captain no less. “Yeah, guess i should know better than to fuck a clown.”
Harley let out a giggle and shrugged her shoulders. “I happen to love fuckin’ a clown. Who by the way...is the highest bidder.” She grinned, skipping back over to him, kicking him once more in the ribs to make a point. And that point was that she was insane. She let out a mock sigh and glanced back at the door, and then at her watch.
“If it’s any consolation, I did really like fuckin’ you too. But I’m a ride or die kinda bitch, babe. And what can I say? He just does it for me.”
