✨️I'm curious to how you view all of the dynamics in the core four of yj, cause I feel like everyone has different opinions! Also I love your take on the agent C situation, so excited to see more!!!✨️

Okay I'm SO behind on asks, but I'll start with this one because i LOVE to yap about them specifically.

For clarification before I start: I'm a multishipper- i CANNOT just choose one ship, and I think they'd all be AT LEAST queer platonic with each other because it's hard to have "normal friendships" with people you regularly get put into horrifying situations with. They're co-dependent & possessive to the max. I also just adore them being poly because it makes everything about their relationships both better and worse <33

And I don't just mean poly like- group dates, and they're all dating Tim so sometimes they kiss about it. NO. I mean that everyone has unique and individual relationships with the other 3 where they go on dates, build their repitore, comfort each other after nightmares, and have meaningful moments together. AND they also have group dates where they hang out together, have group dynamics and relationships, and date each other at once.

No matter weather its platonic romantic or sexual, i see them ALL being equal partners. Even in cases like koncassie getting together in cannon, I can't really see them icing the other two out in many ways.

Like- Tim and Bart are so important to the both of them they can't NOT have them around. Those four are a set, do NOT seperate them unless you want them to set the world on fire looking for each other.

In DEWMA specifically, it's not outright stated if any of them are dating one another, but you could DEFINATELY interpret anyone dating one another. Or keep it completely platonic w/ the flirting just being normal friends hyping each other up and being silly. I left it pretty vague bc i wanted to focus on Tim's relationships with his family. (Lowkey, in chapter 10, Scarecrow interuped konbart's date 😔. Homophobic of him.)

Either way you interpret it, the Core Four in DEWMA are eachother's rocks. They are THE support system. No matter what, if someone needs something, the others are THERE, no questions asked.

Even though Tim makes friends everywhere he goes like he does in cannon, DEWMA Tim lets even FEWER people beind his defenses, and allows pretty much only the core four to see him venerable. ALL of YJ knows his identity, including steph, cissie, secret, and red tornado, but the core four KNOW tim.

He makes space for them in his life, even if it leads to weaknesses in his secret identity. For exsample: he leaves a blind spot in the security of his office so that they can come and go in and out of costume. He knows oracle can hack any electronic device, so he simply doesn't have them in that spot. Just so he can let YJ in.

He also keeps a communicator and distress beacon on him that are always directly tied to the YJ frequency, because making sure his friends are safe is more important than his identity.!!!! He trusts them with the locations of his safe houses. He differs to Cassie's judgement and allows her to call the shots.

And in return they trust him too!!! It's them they'll love each other forever and ever no questions asked.

So I have been very absent from everything posting related because of just a whole ton of health and life issues over the last few months (cant catch a break!!)

I am moving ~1.000 miles away next week and while very excited, it also necessitated getting ahead on medications and making sure I would be covered for the time of my move. One of my meds is an injection for migraine prevention (cut my migraine from 15-20 days each month down to 5-10! Which is lovely!). It can be taken as 3 doses every 3 months or as 1 dose monthly, very convenient if you are moving or perhaps hate needles. I do not have issues with needles.

I do, however, have issues with Autoinjectors. They are, as far as I can tell, a medieval torture device meant to antagonize me specifically and make Shot Day a severely unpleasant experience. I don't dread my weekly self-measured and self-administered injections but these things... they HURT! I can administer an injection so much better and with so much less fuss but alas, the medication is autoinjector-only. Horrible.

All that to say I was very brave and cool today while giving myself all 3 dosage jabs and bearing through how bad the stupid things hurt. :(

hey genq, do u only like found family incest? I loveee ur works on it and forgive me if I'm wrong but i think all of what i have seen is that found family dynamic. Im really curious to see more of ur views as this type of fiction (especially with dottore, surprisingly) is more rare to find >.<

it's not like i'm vehemently against incest in x readers, but it just doesn't work since it is, at the end of the day, a self-insert imo?? i personally don't care about reading those types of fics (though i don't like character x character ones), but i do understand that not everyone wants it. stepcest and fauxcest are more manageable because it allows the reader to sufficiently self-insert without having to justify why and how they're biologically related to that character, because not everyone looks related to dottore, columbina, rerir, etc. also, i think there's a difference between found family incest and step family incest, no? :0 but maybe that's just me! ><

...because, if I were a confrontational and highly skilled xB with little prior experience of privacy in a new situation, those ship's logs - at whatever level of encryption - would become de-encrypted. And that's a conversation that sounded rather amusing in my head.

Am I super proud of the result? No, but I'm proud of having the idea and I don't mind the execution.

Though his mother has a list, the names on it are only mentioned in passing – all but one. Her singular focus is reserved for enumerating the manifold virtues of the lady whose name sits at the very top of her list, with everyone from Daphne and Kate to his least marriage-minded sister and both of his older brothers adding their voices to the rising chorus.

As I have a horror fic that shares its title with Midnight Mass, I felt obligated to watch the new Netflix series. I’ll admit, I didn’t really like the other two series by the same creator, Hill House and Bly Manor. Something about the tone of the acting and the dialogue just takes me out of the suspense. And I felt the same way for the first few episodes of Midnight Mass. My main complaint was that Crockett Island is meant to feel insular and lived-in and yet the series seemed to go out of its way not to place Crockett Island on the map. I couldn’t tell if it was meant to be Atlantic or Pacific Coast (though it was filmed in British Columbia). The regional accents are all over the place, making the island feel like nowhere at all. It also really bothered me at first that the show is called Midnight Mass even though the story takes place during Lent. But that makes sense later in the series. Several things that seem off in the beginning - like certain make-up choices - make more sense in the end. 

I pushed through and by Episode 5 I felt fully invested in the fate of the characters. Episode 6 is absolutely great horror. I’m not trying to spoil the ending, but I’ll continue my review under the cut just to be courteous.

While there is a lot of preaching in Midnight Mass, I think a strength of the show is that it isn’t preaching to the audience that religion is good or bad. The story presents a wide range of belief and non-belief and shows the ways religion can be both a positive and negative force in people’s lives. While all the horror in Midnight Mass happens because of the religious figures on the island, there are many moments – even at the end - when various characters lean on their faith for strength and comfort. What happens on the island isn’t the logical conclusion of religious faith – it is the logical conclusion of religious fervor and extremism. What happens in cults.

The character of Beverly Keane was perhaps to most real to me. I went to school with girls who grew up to be Bev-lite. Women who would gladly sign up to be Aunties in Gilead. Bev is a recognizable archetype.

There is a clear reference to the 1978 Jonestown Massacre. And I think the reference is appropriate for the themes of the show. What I really appreciated about the way the show recalls Jonestown is that it challenges the idea that “drinking the kool-aid” can really be used as shorthand for “willingly brainwashed” as it is commonly used in US English. To say someone “drank the kool-aid” is to make a casual reference to the deaths of over 900 people, a third of whom were children. The extent to which those people died willingly isn’t even debatable - there were guns present. I really appreciate that if the show was going to go down that road, it was presented in a way that showed both the coercion and the resistance. It wasn’t as simple as brainwashing.

Ultimately, Midnight Mass is great horror. It made me care and worry about the characters, it poses important questions about the nature of belief and extremism, and it is very, very creepy.

As a non movie fan, my reaction to people going "He stepped on James' body", was "excuse me, are you perchance remembering some fanfic you wrote?", because it's something that not only didn't happen in the books, but also makes no sense timelinewise.

After hearing about it a hundred times, my new reaction is,

Why is James entitled to any respect from the man he bullied for 7 years, at least one of those behind his wife's back? From a man James choked with soap and threatened to take off his underwear?

If my best friend quit being my friend and decided she was in love with one of my former bullies? I might still care about her, because I rarely stop caring about people I once considered a close friend, but I'm not required to care about her husband to upset if she dies.

I don't care how much people have been told that couples are basically a single unit and we have to love both of you to love either. If it even applies normally (gag, I'm not convinced of that), it sure doesn't apply to situations where one of you marries someone who choked people in public.
