Completed my last workout of 2014! It was my first one in like 2 weeks so I pretty much died and couldn't keep up with what I usually do but I did it so I'm not complaining!
It's crazy that for once my new year's resolution doesn't involve actually working out when I say I am going to or anything along those lines. That's because I actually do hit the majority of my planned workouts now! I enjoy working out. I crave a good sweat session. I love running now and I have improved so much. I work out because it makes me feel healthy and happy rather than to burn calories and lose weight. Working out is truly part of who I am now. I am so proud of myself for this and I am excited to see what I can accomplish in 2015.
I was tagged by the beautiful and inspirational scarletfireignited to show my progress of 2014.
I went from over 106kg to 91.6kg this year, almost 40lbs gone in 6 months.
Insanity is mainly to thank for this, the bottom photo is from day one to the final day of insanity.
I’m so proud of how far I have come. I still have around 50-60lbs to lose, but I am almost halfway there and I’m hoping I can make 2015 the year I reach my goal.
Sounds cliché but eating right and moving more can make a huge difference.
I tag just-another-meat-popsicle, misskitkatcupcake, kimmigoesphrawr, zarafitblr and anybody else who is immensely proud of the incredible progress they have made this year. Show me your progress! I can’t wait to see how well all you guys have done :)
Finished my tasks yesterday for the most part, I didn't get everything done exactly the way I wanted to, but still progress! Let's see what's on the agenda for today.
Make the bed
Recycling and Garbage (going to bed with a clean table means waking up with one! Already done, amigos!)
Finish cleaning the kitchen floor (one 20/10 was accomplished, but that's all for today)
If that gets done, move on to the hallway/bathroom!
Laundry rotation (gather the dry, hang up the wet, put a new load in!)
I'd like to work on the upstairs hallway if possible. Try to get Drew to help with a 20/10.(one and only 20/10 was done! Forgot to take befores BEFORE we started, but took some halfway though!)
So yea it's almost February. And yea, I adore my Christmas decorations. But, yea, I guess it was time to put 'em away. Read more to learn about recent success stories and some lists and stuff.
For anyone who didn't catch my earlier to-do list, I basically had a bunch of... re-organizing/regular cleaning duties to do today. But, that was a long time ago, hours and hours ago. Since then, of course, the day had to take a drastic turn and derailed me. My dad came by and went downstairs to try to fix the dryer. No luck, but he's coming back tomorrow with some parts or something.
I spent most of that time running around helping my dad get what he needed, or just laying around with Drew. But, I did attempt to work on my list after my Dad left. So today, with Drew's help, we
Cleared the small couch. There was a bunch of Chrstmas presents and clothing, mixed in with some spare pillows and random stuff. The clothing that we don't wear went into a suitcase type thing for now, so at least it's out of the way and somewhat organized. The Christmas gifts have been all moved into one bag and the rest are ready to store downstairs (with the Christmas Tree and ornaments!). I really don't know what to do with some of the gifts we got.
Moved the dog cages out of the living room (we rarely use them anyway), while we were moving them a bunch of fluffy filling flew out of one of the cushions inside. So, we swept all that up and then moved the couch where they used to be. We also moved our clothing rack/wardrobe to the place the couch used to be, so it's a little more tidy looking and open.
Cleared off the table, wiped it down.
Drew put in a load of laundry
So, that's what we've done today. The dog cages are hanging out in the kitchen for now until we know what to do with them. We don't have many options, but I think ideally once the office is cleared out, they'll go in there. For now, maybe the basement. It's almost 12 AM and we still have some stuff to do! So, I'm going to quickly write out a to-do and will come back when they're done.
Take out garbage and recycling
clear living room floor
sweep everywhere
hang up laundry
take a nice cold drink of you-did-it-cola.
Done! First time I made a list of to-dos after already cleaning and relaxing for a bit that I finished. Six bags of garbage, one bin of recycling, sweeping done, laundry hung up and a new load in, and the living room floor is pretty spotless. Annnnndddddd, the Christmas stuff is put away. It's been a pretty good day. Goodnight for now, friend. Thanks for reading, and I hope you're all doing as great as I know you can :)
Been really sick these past few days and sadly have fallen off the grid with my to-do list. The bed hasn't been made in a few days, but I did spend some time with Drew in the Kitchen. Going back to my list, adding on two extra days that were lost. Let's finish up this week on a good note. Also going to add on a few more chores that have to be done today.
17/01/2014: And yea these are getting combined because i'm still sick and if I need two days to do these tasks then I'm going to fucking do it. Because either way this shit is getting done.
1. Make the bed immediately after waking up.
2. Laundry. Wash, dry, put away.
3. Recycling. Get the bins, fill the bins, put the bins back.
4. Garbage. Get a garbage bag, fill the bag, put the bag in the back.
5. Sweep the lower floors.
6. Sweep the stairs.
7. Wipe down the table.
8. Wipe down the bathroom sink at the end of the day.
9. Put everything in it’s rightful place.
10. Clean one problem area for 10-30 minutes depending on how I’m feeling.
11. Get the recycling bins from outside.
12. Figure out what to do with the storage boxes and where to put them.
One of the to-do's on my to-do list is to clean a problem area. I am more than happy to take cleaning the office than cleaning the kitchen. I'd rather clean the bathroom, my room that hasn't been touched/cleaned for over a year, the upstairs hallway, anything other than touching anything in that godforsaken kitchen. The mess isn't that bad. No, there's not much mess at all. There's just... grossness. Everywhere. Spilled coke on the counters (who knows what else besides coke), a sink with crusty plates and bowls in it with incredibly old pop paste (yea, paste. It's been a long time), and dog pee dried into the floors. It's... disgusting.
All of that alone may not scare me so easily. I could probably buckle down and clean that, because although it's gross, it's manageable. What literally paralyses me are the hundreds (thousands?) of fruit flies that emerge at the first sign of movement. I can't. I don't want to sound like a nine year old girl shrieking at the sight of an insect but that's what happens. It's really bad that this happens to me, because if it doesn't get cleaned properly, the bug issue isn't going to disappear. And this is a big issue considering we're sleeping less than 10 feet away.
sigh. Growing up the house was never spotless, but it was never gross. Not like this. There was mess, sure, everywhere actually. Mounds of laundry and piles and piles of stuff and paper. But not dirty and disgusting and gross. Somewhere between me leaving home for a couple months and coming back that changed. My mom got sicker and couldn't do the little cleaning she used to and my sister didn't care. It grew and grew until she was forcibly removed from the house and I was coerced into coming back. Not that I don't love my mom and want to take care of her, but it makes me a little ticked off that my 16 year old sister needs to be protected but the then 17 year old me was thrown right into it. Thrown into it to fix it and get yelled at and blamed.
It took me months to figure out that this situation was permanent. That I was staying until my mom either gets better (0 chance of that happening), she dies (which is really not an option, because I wouldn't be able to do anything without her), or my sister gets a bit more mature and comes back home (which she is able to at any time now). So this is permanent. No one is going to run in and save me, I figured out that if I wanted to make the best out of a shitty situation, it was time for me to grow up a little more. So, ergo, Mission Impossible: Day 1 came into place. And now we're here on day... forever later. Anyway.
Drew dragged me into the kitchen when I asked him to help me with number 10 on my list. I wish I hadn't asked, because while I wanted to trolly upstairs and throw out some laundry, he wanted to tackle the kitchen head on. Terrified me. Thankfully he dealt with the sink and dishes, where most if not all of the fruit flies were coming from. I have no hope that they're going to leave and never return. While he did that I swept the floors and cleaned off one counter.
Another issue with the kitchen is we have a lot of stuff that I would love to get rid of. If I had it my way, 90% of the kitchen would be tossed. Meaning all of the dishes, cutlery, dishwasher, stove, fridge, all food/cans, the table, the lights, the floors, the shelving. I might keep the microwave. Maybe. Probably not though, so let's just say I want that kitchen gone. I realize that this isn't the best most practical solution, but it gives me a little bit of hope that maybe one day I'll have a nice kitchen all to myself. But really, I want to throw out all dish ware (which really isn't much to begin with), cutlery, and small appliances (the toaster, perhaps microwave). It would be nice if I could get a new dishwasher that worked and maybe a new stove, but that's doubtful.
ANYWAYS. We spent maybe 30 minutes in the kitchen. I'm really somewhat proud of Drew for pushing me there, because it had to be done. He even did most of the work. I took some close up pictures and we'll see if I'm going to post them. Maybe when I have proper afters.
The plan is to finish up my to-do list before bed, get drew to bring me home a buttload of supplies/etc from walmart tomorrow with the gift cards we got, and then bustle through some more of the kitchen. Maybe if I get everything really clean then I could better convince my dad to get my the supplies I want/need. At the end of this to-do list week I'm going to mop everything and I'm hoping for a huge improvement, especially in the kitchen.
As always, thank you all for listening to me bitch and moan. It's been a pleasure.
