April 27: Do you have any vocal stims or echolalia? Can you give any examples?

I don’t think I have any vocal stims, but I do have echolalia. Sometimes it’s delayed, but most of the time it’s me repeating something I was just told. For example, the other day one of my managers asked me to meet him in aisle 4 and I responded “aisle 4.” I’ll do this for any instructions I’m given. For my delayed echolalia, I’ll be sitting at home, and I’ll start quoting movie or tv lines that I heard a while ago. One of my most common ones is “Yes Alonzo. Is that what you’re doing out there?” It’s a quote from The Blacklist and I’ll say it for no reason. I’ll also make random sounds either right after I hear them or as a delayed response. Cat meows are my most common ones. I also like to sing.

30 Days Of Autism Acceptance 2019: April 23rd!

For day 23 of @autie-jake’s tag I’m going to talk about my stim toys!

The majority of stim toys I own are from @stimtastic and I love them! I bought two chew toys which are the shark and the pink pendant and I also bought a squishy putty ball.

I have a lot of sensory lights because I find them super stimmy and calming. One of these is a fibre optic lamp which is sensory heaven!!

I also have a lot of fidget toys such as fidget cubes, fidget spinners, tangles and stress balls. I take these out with me a lot because they keep me distracted which helps with my anxiety.

autism acceptance month challenge - april 18: Talk about your autistic headcanons.

oh boy do i have a lot here. (with varying amounts of “proof” for each characters)

hermione from harry potter. she canonically stims, infodumps, has trouble with social situations and relationships, has a black and white mentality (the house elf thing), and i could see her having magic/the magical world as a special interest. 

luna from harry potter. i can’t think of any specific examples but it’s just her entire vibe. also i’m autistic and i say so. 

castiel from supernatural, my original ace autistic fave. he has trouble with social cues and sarcasm, wears the same clothes all the time (mood), very clearly loves deeply and intensely but doesn’t express it in a way the other characters always understand/pick up on, and there’s a lot more. 

shigeo/”mob” from mob psycho 100. oh i could gush forever about him. the entire show is built off a mechanic where his emotions “builld up” and then “spill over/go out of control”, which is the perfect metaphor for a meltdown. he’s also kind of unexpressive and quiet, and social cues can go over his head, but he’s never looked down on for this, most of the other characters accept him as he is.

steven from steven universe. it’s been a while since i’ve watched it so i can’t really think of any good examples, but he is. 

while i’m at it connie from steven universe is also autistic. and also peridot. and the more i think about it the more everyone on this show could be read as autistic. 

star butterfly from star vs the forces of evil; i actually headcanon her as autistic and adhd. uh if you want proof then watch the first episode of the show (it’s like 10 minutes) and you’ll know Exactly What I’m Talking About. she’s very (very) energetic and “hyper”, she doesn’t always read the situation/make the best decisions in social situations/relationships, and, this is more later in the show, while she isn’t good at the traditional/conventional magic, she is very obviously powerful and good at her kind of magic. 

both elric brothers from fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood (i say brotherhood because i haven’t watched the 03 series, sue me). while they kinda fall into the savant stereotype a bit, but eh, that’s ok. al is really sweet and caring, and ed is emotional (a little high strung, but he has his soft moments). 

all the main kids from undertale and deltarune; frisk, chara, asriel, kris, ralsei, susy. they’re all autistic. 

also papyrus from undertale. i also headcanon him as aromantic; after the failed date when he says (paraphrased it’s been a while and i can’t be bothered to look it up) “i thought the feelings would grow naturally” is a big aromantic mood. 

red from pokémon. nonverbal, constantly adjusting his hat to block out light (my interpretation of that action at least, i do the same thing whenever i wear a hat)

the doctor from doctor who. “my” doctor is 10, so i’m specifically thinking of him (like, everything. social difficulties, sensory stuff (always wearing the same clothes), infodumping, etc). but also the other doctors too. 

i don’t have any specific characters for this, but a large amount of the demigods on the riordanverse must be autistic, because they’re all adhd (most of them, anyway) and the comorbidity is so high. 

keith from voltron, and also pidge from voltron. i no longer like voltron so i’m not gonna get into it but they’re autistic. 

five from the umbrella academy.

the entire pines family from gravity falls. yes even stan. 

carlos from welcome to night vale. it’s been a while since i’ve listened to it but He’s Autistic Okay Trust Me On This.

eddie from venom. i can’t think of any specific things but he is.

zuko from avatar the last airbender. here the black and white mentality is a big one, as well as his awkwardness in social situations (he’s usually very to-the-point and blunt, usually). 

that’s all i can think of off the top of my head. i’m sure i’m forgetting someone really obvious, but oh well.

30 Days of Autism Acceptance 2019: Day 1

April 1st: Introduce yourself. Talk about who you are as a person.

Hello! Let me introduce myself: my name is Jake, I'm 25 years old, and I'm autistic. I also have ADHD. I was diagnosed as autistic when I was a child. I started my blog about two and a half years ago in October 2016. At the time I just created the blog on a whim with the vague intention of talking about what it's like to be autistic. And I honestly believe that was one of the best decisions I've made in my life. When I created my blog a couple years ago, I discovered a wonderful and accepting community. For the first time in my life I had people who's experiences were similar to my own and I found people that I could connect with.

I have a deep love for animation, especially cartoons. My two current special interests are The Simpsons and Steven Universe. I love both these shows so very much. I also really love being able to use my blog to help people and educate others about autism.

I like to think of myself as a friendly person so I hope people feel like they can talk to me. Feel free to send me an ask or a message if you ever want to say something to me! :)

So, day 1 :  Introduce yourself. Talk about who you are as a person.

So, I’m known as Ladyautie on this platform. I used to be Ladyaspie, but I changed to LadyAutie when I stopped using the Aspergers diagnosis to talk about myself and my autism. 

My first name is Sophie. I’m french, but I’m closer to the english autism community than the french one, because they tend to be aspie supremacist and anti self-dx, which I am not.

I’ve been officially diagnosed as autistic last year, but I started to self-diagnose when I was 16. I always felt like I was different, without being able to really now why until I came across the english wiki page on autism and the autism community on tumblr. 

I’m a librarian and I struggled a lot to get a job. I’ve been discriminated in the past and I sincerely hope it won’t happen again. I love being a librarian, working with books, DVDs and CDs and so on. One of my purposes as a librarian is to offer diverse content to our patrons and open their mind to new content.

I’m 25, 26 this year, but it’s hard for me to consider myself as a grown-up. I’m struggling with a lot of stuff and I’m hoping I’ll get better at managing myself in the future.

30 Days of Autism Acceptance 2019 - Day 18

Talk about your autistic headcanons.

First I automatically headcanon every character I relate to has being autistic either I have proof in the canon or not.

But with that said, for my absolute favorite autistic headcanon I have a lot of proof. :)

And my favorite autistic headcanon is KARA DANVERS !

As I already talked about that I really think that being autistic in this neurotypical world is very similar to being an alien in a human world.

Kara experiences the world differently than humans.

She sees things most people can see and hear everything louder, which can be overwhelming a lot of times.

She also suffers from being hyper empathetic, which cause her to feel guilty over things she has no reason to feel guilty about.

She sometimes struggles with social cues.

She can have meltdowns and shutdowns and it's seems that only Alex can calm her down when it's happening.

She does a lot of stimmy stuffs.
