Lancer Homebrew Beta - Spy, Sorcerer, and Some Guy
Surprise motherfuckers, your provider of shankbirds and trauma fairies also does giant robots.
Salutations, pilots, and welcome to the open betas for DOWNFALL GROUP (designed by Jacob Karpel), MAGNUM OPUS INTERSTELLAR (designed by Ikiryo), and MARLEY, OZ, & SILVER (designed by yours truly), new mech manufacturers for use in your Lancer campaigns! We’re putting them out for open playtesting in the hopes of refining our designs and making them the best they can be.
In each link you will find:
- A brand-new mech manufacturer with fluff explaining their origin and place in the setting of Lancer
- 6 new Core bonuses associated with that manufacturer
- 7 new Frames produced by that manufacturer, complete with new weapons and systems
All comments and critique are welcome; just taking the time to read ‘em is a wonderful gift! Miguel and Tom (@orbitaldropkick), the creators of Lancer, have expressed a hope that they can cultivate a healthy third-party publishing community in their game, and we in turn hope to become part of that community! With that in mind, we are especially eager to know how this content feels in the context of the wider game, as well as any mechanical interactions you may find between these three manufacturers; just like they’re on the same post here, they’re likely to end up in the same book if we get the chance to publish!
Our new manufacturers (links in each header) are:
"What happens when you make a promise to someone who doesn't want you to keep it?” Like the other two corporations here, DOWNFALL Group did not start out looking for a fight. They just found one. In this case, their mission led them to figure out that what they were meant to do was at odds with what they should, and the final decision was probably not what their bosses intended. Still, when your avowed enemies control nearly everything, including you if they found out, you have to get creative with your solutions.
Magnum Opus Interstellar are voyagers among the stars, seeking to map the routes across the depths of space. Magnum Opus tends to dislike personal conflict, as it interferes with business and exploration; but the Aun attack on the Cornucopia blink gate has left them shaken and reeling. Shocked out of neutrality, they are now gearing up for war with frames that tear the firmament asunder and demonstrate that a lack of interest in war was a dramatic difference to a lack of capability.
Smith-Shimano Corpro offers unparalleled quality, custom-tailored to each unique customer, with service plans that can't be beat. Marley, Oz, and Silver are the other end of the market; whatever they make, they make it at the absolute lowest price point possible and at the highest quality they can provide you for that price. Having trouble getting your revolution off the ground? Dreams of glory as a mechanized gladiator doomed by your pocketbooks? Sick and tired of fancier frames jamming up or shutting down? Come see Marley, Oz, and Silver - it's for a good cause.

Lancer is a “mud-and-lasers” mech RPG set in the far future; humanity has Fallen, risen again as New Humanity, and taken to the stars to colonize the Milky Way. The future is bright, but dark shadows - fascism, imperialism, slavery, and corporate exploitation - threaten the dream of a better tomorrow. In it, you play a Lancer, the Cavalry That Has Arrived - here to save the day or destroy it, depending on your loyalties.
Lancer is being made by Massif Press and is currently in its own pre-release stage! You can find the core book and a TON of other stuff, including pre-release versions of later supplements and the FANTASTIC Comp/Con tool, at their main site, here: https://massif-press.itch.io/
While we are not in any way officially affiliated with Massif Press, we want to express our incredible excitement for the game and our gratitude to Miguel & Tom for all of their hard work on it.
Thank you for your time and critique!
