TW: Slavery, Human Trafficking, Captivity, Toxic Relationships Taken from the Queen’s warpath, these individuals were originally meant to be sold to the Menagerie. Yet they caught Severin’s eye, their beauty comparable to paintings — something to be kept in a personal collection and admired.
Each bride open in gender, sexuality, and ethnicity.
[ WANT AD ] [ SEVERIN’S APP ] [ NEW PARADIGM ] [ SPECIES ] [ DISCORD ]
I. Mona Lisa [Black Haired One] Vampire | 40s - 60s | Wed 18 years
The first bride, the co-head of the house whose opinion holds the most sway amongst the collection. Their permissions are the most lenient and they have ascended to nobility within the last 2 years. Armed with a sharp-tongue, opinionated, and holds a love of the arts.
II. Ophelia – [Red Haired One] – [RESERVED] Human | 30s - 40s | Wed 7-10 years
The second bride, one who hardly speaks of the past as they are content with what they have now. Seeing value in the cage each bride is kept in. They are safe, warm, fed — what more could they ask for? An overly cautious individual who is determined to keep the brides united.
III. Jael and Sisera – [Fair Haired One] Human | 30s - 40s | Wed 3 - 7 years
The youngest bride, the one who is jokingly referred to as not being housebroken yet. Keen to test boundaries as well as disregard the rules, though punishment does little to deter this one. Perhaps they will be the one to turn the brides? Their greeting with Severin had been the reason for their name after all, an attempt to bash him with an antique.

My little black heels click on the pavement as I get closer to the place I call home. Skirt swishing with every stride. Curls frizzy from a full day of work, bouncing up and down. The wind pushing my Marilyn Monroe inspired bangs close to my face.
I am ready to get home and rest my feet. Working as a wedding dress seamstress, everything has to be perfect. Today I was sewing on a design from an intricate lace. A very frustrating and tiring task.
My whole body aches. With each step towards my apartment, my legs feel more and more numb. Despite all of this, only one thing is on my mind. It is the same thing I think about every day, every minute, no matter what.
James Howard. My fiance.
He has been deployed for 2 years. We write to each other often. I worry about him every day, but I am even more nervous today. 2 months. The last letter I got from James was 2 months ago.
In one of the last letters I got he said they were sending him to the front line. Anything could have happened. My mind is racing: what if he's injured? What if he doesnt love me anymore? What if he wants to call off the engagement? What if he was captured? What if he’s---
Right as my mind goes to the unthinkable, I run into something. My feet cross and I fall. Right before I hit the ground someone catches me.
“Oh! I'm sorry! I'm sososososo sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going. I was lost in my thoughts,” I say. My eyes cast down from embarrassment.
“It’s okay. Really. I’m just glad I caught you,” that voice. It sounds so familiar. “You should pay attention to what’s in front of you,” there is a softness held in the words. It’s soothing.
“Yeah,” I say, head raising. “That’s probably a go-” my words get caught in my throat when I see those piercing blue eyes. A wave of relief travels through my body, while I launch myself into the arms of the man I hold so close to my heart.
Never thought that you would be
standing here so close to me
there's so much I feel that I should say
but words can wait until some other day
James lifts me up and twirls me. In the moment it feels like no one is around us. Like we are the only people in the world. My crimson skirt ripples in the wind. My hands on his shoulders. His hands on my waist. He sets me down and brings one hand up to cup my cheek. The touch is so light and is a stark difference to the kiss that follows. There are so many things I want to say to him, but right now all that matters is that he’s here. The kiss is filled with all we wanted to say. My hands travel down his wool coat to sit on his torso. The only thing that parts the kiss is the need for air. James breaks the kiss, resting his forehead on mine.
Kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It's been a long, long time
The city seems to vanish and all I hear is our labored breaths. Breath still uneven, I lean in for another kiss. This one is less urgent, less messy, but it still has the same passion. A gentle I missed you. For a good ten minutes, we stay like that. In the middle of the sidewalk holding each other. At that moment I feel no worry, only love. It feels like a void was filled in my chest. All the nightmares or the dreams that he was beside me, gone.
Haven't felt like this, my dear
Since I can't remember when
It's been a long, long time
You'll never know how many dreams
I've dreamed about you
Or just how empty they all seemed without you
So kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It's been a long, long time
