two equally hilarious outcomes of shannon 2.0, either they cast a second actress to play kim and we get the reveal she doesn’t look nearly as much like shannon as she does from eddie’s pov.

or we get a scene where she meets the 118 and it’s just a bunch of reaction shots of them like

+ bonus points if buck already knows and is just like “yes, I see it, no I don’t know what the fuck is going on.”

A little Drabble I wrote based on this tumblr post I found on Pinterest:

Imagine the dinner scene at a nice restaurant instead of at Eddie's house - they're dressed up, having a fancy dinner, drinking expensive wine, almost like a good-ending of Buck and Abby's date.

Eddie wakes up when he's about to kiss Buck next to his jeep, after the date. Dream-date was picture perfect, conversation flowed like a stream, they were making heart eyes at each other all the time, it was everything you'd see on a romantic movie with a happily ever after.

But then, Eddie wakes up, and he goes to his kitchen and it's nothing like his dream, but it feels right. Buck has flour on his cheeks and hair, is wearing an old apron Eddie is almost sure Abuela gifted to Buck, there's a bit of pancake batter spilled on the kitchen counter. Chris is sitting at the kitchen counter looking this close to falling asleep on his eggs and bacon, and Buck is chatting happily while flipping pancakes, his back to the door. Eddie stands there, leaning against the doorframe™ for a moment, taking in the scene, the domesticity of it all.

The camera points back to Buck, who turns around with a pancake on his spatula, gaze down as he puts it on a plate. Then he looks up, just as a ray of sunshine enters through the kitchen window, and smiles that Buck™ smile, the one that makes his eyes go ^^ and says "hey, Eddie" or something equally simple and familiar and Eddie smiles, slowly, softly, in that way that Ryan Guzman has mastered where his eyes go all soft and gooey and we Know™, but then his smile falls just as slowly.

Maybe there's an initial monologue by Eddie about how important friends are, that cuts in the middle of the word "friend" when Buck smiles, and it just ends with the fanfic-cliche "Oh".

Then the theme of the calls is like, doing things you're afraid of, because the reward might be worth it. In between are scenes of Eddie speaking with Hen in hushed voices, looking distraught, maybe even crying, pulling away from Buck in subtle and not-so-subtle ways.

I'd love to see Eddie having a full blown panic attack and his self-discovery arc spanning several episodes, but I'm also a sucker for him having said panic attack and kissing Buck through the tears or something like that.

Absolutely wild to say that Tommy was retconned by the way. The show already forgave him (by showing Hen and Chimney forgiving and befriending him and depicting Chimney as still being in touch with him in the present day) back in his original run of s2 episodes. They didn’t decide “oh he’s a good guy now” when they brought him back in s7–that was always the point of his character’s arc, that he was capable of making changes and making amends. s7 just gives more context to his actions in that time period, but it doesn’t change anything that was already established

You know how Tim was obsessed with needing to “raise the stakes” in this show?

Well, do you know what *would* raise the stakes? putting two characters who work on the same team together as a couple.

How would they navigate adjusting to that new environment at work? What hangups within the whole system would they experience?

You think a suspension or medical leave is stressful for the team dynamic now? Try Buck or Eddie getting transferred out of the 118 and having to decide how to cope with the team being separated for a lot longer than a temporary period of time. Imagine the tension of having to decide who would stay and who would go.

You think it’s already stressful when one of them gets hurt on a call? Imagine if one of them wasn’t there and don’t hear about it until later because they were on shift. Oh, Eddie finding out about Bobby over the phone in the middle of the night was bad, but imagine Eddie getting pulled into his captain’s office to be told that his boyfriend was seriously injured on a call and rushed to the hospital. Imagine the panic, the guilt, and anger over not being there to have each other’s backs.

Imagine the struggles of transitioning from what they thought was a strong, close friendship to more. Imagine them tiptoeing around important conversations because they’re too scared of messing things up for the *two* children that are involved in their lives and potential relationship now. Imagine the fear of repeating the same mistakes they’ve made in their previous relationships with each other.

There is genuinely so much potential just sitting there getting wasted by *not* letting them be together, and it’s pushing the show closer and closer to “jump the shark” territory as Tim scrambles to come up with increasingly ridiculous ideas of how to keep the show interesting that either never go anywhere beyond a 2-3 episode vacuum, or last a while throughout the season, but never really stick the landing the way they should, leaving things *just* shy of being the same level of good quality melo-dramedy that the show was a few seasons ago.

"I've been seeing some fans saying, 'Tommy's just a supporting character,' 'He's not important,' 'The focus is on Buck.' But the truth is, they need Tommy more than they realize—especially if they want this franchise to last longer than one more season.

Tell me: which other character expands the show's mythology? Who elevates rescues to a level ordinary firefighters can't reach?

Buck, with his perpetual tearful expression and new-home drama? Eddie, The Straight Guy™ who runs from therapy like the devil from the cross? Bobby, who's literally become compost? Athena, almost retired, more involved with real estate than patrol? Hen and Karen in the recycled adoption loop? Maddie and Chimney in 'kidnapping + baby' mode version 3.0?

The answer is simple: Tommy Kinard and his Harbor Station air unit. A ready-made spin-off, with franchise potential, with angles Unexplored themes and an emotional charge that doesn't rely on forced romance or repeated trauma.

And before anyone says this is a fan's opinion: it isn't. It's a producer's analysis. A vision of the future. Because if the plan is to survive, repeating the tragedy of season 8 isn't an option. And rushing to Nashville thinking a country-pop version of Lone Star will save the franchise? Good luck with that.

Rational me is saying that Ryan has been really hitting the gym lately because of his personal fitness goals that have nothing to do with the show.

Irrational me is saying that Ryan wants to be ready for any future scenes that require him to be scantily clad or super strong.

I mean. . . Do I think it is possible for Ryan to come close to lifting or moving Oliver around?

No.

But would I like to see him try it?

Yes. Because that screams some sort of Buck/Eddie/Buddie NDE and that would be perfect for me personally.
