If you say your lived with a parent you weren't allowed to say no to, many wouldn't bat an eye.
If you replace that with partner, it'd be considered differently by more and be called abusive.

“When Pop Culture Meets Politics, or Understanding the News Cycle When A Wire Service Is Involved: A Thread https://t.co/Ptu7eb1QGq”
so this is just a really helpful thread if you wanna understand the bts (jimin) + japan/korea situation a tad bit better
a mini rant/opinion
I saw this post going around about people who don’t read fanfics or imagines or anything of the sort which is perfectly fine by me. I used to not either, but the thing is... a lot of people agreeing with the post kept bashing on the people who do read and write imagines, saying that THEY aren’t delusional about dating or marrying their boys and whatever.
And I’m really only commenting on this because I have friends that are this way and it’s the reason why I can’t really talk to anyone irl about what I do here on tumblr. Someone once told me that if I write kpop fanfics then they’d better not be reader insert ones bc those are WEIRD.
I don’t understand why they feel the need to bash on us like this though. I don’t think we’re hurting anyone? I’m fully aware of how the things I write will never happen to me. I’m only concerned with making other people feel happy or feel something when they read my writing.
Personally, I’m just a lonely person, so reading imagines just lets me see the POSSIBILITY of the scenarios happening. Using these kpop idols as characters just makes it easier for me because they have set personalities and characteristics, and it just so happens my bias is the one I like reading imagines for because he fits my ideal. So what? I’m not trying to manipulate real human beings. Why do they keep treating me like I do?
I mean it’s perfectly fine if they think it’s weird or if they don’t like it, but as long as we’re not doing any harm, why do they keep attacking us? I don’t want to have to continue to be ashamed of what I do every time someone brings it up as like the “trash”, the “darkest parts” of the kpop fandom.
Anyway that’s been my little rant whatever after reading those posts and the experiences with the people around me. Take this as you will, I just needed to get it off my chest ^^”

I think the social(I divide into economic and social sides) parts of politics and generally conservative vs progressive thinking can be explained as everything between these 2 scales in terms of what people are allowed to be and who gets rights:
Conservative: one image of the perfect person. Class. Race. Specific actions and endless rules. This being the right and only correct type of person and the closer you are to it the more correct you are, and anything moving away from this is a failure or threat. The peasants are pigs. Woman are objects. People from other countries aren't humans. All correct humans are inherently the same otherwise they couldn't be this ideal.
Progressive: there are no rules. Humans vary hugely across many aspects. You can love whoever and be whatever. Your body is solely your choice of what to do with it. You can be anything and identify in any personal way which hurts no other physically. Rules defining what you are allowed to be are pointlessly restricting. Have compasssion/empathy for those you don't relate to or don't understand
I also believe mabye this helps explain the gap in older generations trying to understand new concepts, as to them it can truly be a concept they've never heard before unlike young people who grew up already understanding and believing it.
I wonder if a possible way to explain "skill regression" for late diagnosed autistic people would be
Like having a neighbor who's polite enough within social rules you can't call them out often but is very annoying in all the ways that get to you, who makes you act better so you don't have to deal with them as often,
Then they move away and you exhale and relax and begin to act more casual and unprofessional than you did before, which to an outside observer would seem like quite the shift in your apearance/capabilities/character.
Rant of intentions and trust. Asking for perspectives
I feel like for me trust has a good amount to do with if I know someone's intentions. The issue being I'm comically terrible at understanding other people and why they do the things they do/operate they way they do.
I have to wonder how common this is for others, and if it's only major for me because of the lack of understanding which has likely caused me problems throughout life.
Like, someone's intentions for me completely colour our interactions in a different light, the same action could be uncomfortable or neutral or amazing depending on the context of intent and reason behind it.
Like what's the amount of negativity a theoretical friend of mine would be willing to take from me? Why are they willing to be around me? Self interest of enjoying their time more when around me? Social obligation based off previous situations and the general pressure to be seen as good and not complaining too outwardly clearly negativly? It'd be more convenient for themselves if others around them including me think of them as a decent person? Pity and/or emotions? There's lots of possible reasons someone could do 1 thing and which pov is the right one would colour my understanding of how much they'd take or why they are doing it or what it means when they do something and any expression on their end. Without this it's far harder to really rely on or trust I feel like. I know I'm wierd but I still would like other people's perspectives on this topic.
This likely is part of what i reblogged earlier of wanting a report after social interactions to know what others think of me.
