Imagine being a cat shifter, able to transform yourself at will into a huge, uber-fluffy Norwegian Forest Cat.

Loki somehow doesn’t cotton on until the two of you take in a box of abandoned kittens that are less than a week old, and you shift in front of him so you can feed the babies

I see a lot of fuzzy feel good internet videos about people finding abandoned kittens and they speculate "Mama cat must have abandoned him because he's too sick. "

You ever wonder if feral mama cats leave their unhealthy babies near humans on purpose? Maybe it's not a callous "You're gonna die kid, toodles" but more of a "I can't give you what you need to live, but I've heard legend of the giant ones taking our kind in as one of their own. Perhaps if I leave you here my precious child, the giant ones will find you and take you in and give you what I cannot: a chance to survive"

So yesterday I found 4 abandoned kittens in my back yard. I stayed out of sight on the back porch until sunset and the mother didn't show. We have a rabid coyote attacking the feral animals, so we brought them inside. Tried to see if their mother would at least appear when we brought them out, but still a no show.

The first image is of the first kitten i found, who ran right up to me as soon as I got within 10 feet of her. The other is if the nest location about 15 feet away, not pictured is the rusted barbed wire it was next to.

The other two images are of the four in my house after getting fed.

I'll be keeping this under "Kitten Updates". Mother says not to get too attached, but I'm pretty sure we're keeping st least one of the runts (the black ones)

So Thursday afternoon, 4 kittens were left at our house. Two didn't make it the following day... but here we have a brother and sister thriving and being bottle fed. They're probably not even a week old yet. We're rotating taking care of them, every 2 hours feed and make sure they use the bathroom. This is a very hard time for these babies without their mother... but we're hoping and TRYING very hard to keep these little guys truckin' along. We may see if a nursing cat mother will feed them, but sometimes they don't...

If you know of anyone that has rescued kittens this young please any advice would definitely help! ❤️🐾

2 kittens, same size/age, similar coloring, were found by 2 different people and are now with a rescue. Speculations are in the air that somebody is just ‘tossing out’ kittens.

How does this affect me? I want one.

Unfortunately, right now I don’t have the -- whatever it takes -- to do the gradual integration and introduction required for doggos and kittens (especially one doggo who is untested around cats) to cohabitate safely.

I’m frustrated with myself, but also proud that I didn’t make a knee-jerk decision to go get one of them before coming to this realization.

We’ve been a cat-less for a very long time. It’s starting to get to me.

Announcing a family of FOUR little kittens abandoned by their mom at the Morris-Jumel Garden. Each is around 1 pound and probably 5-6 weeks old. 3 out of 4 are polydactyl - meaning they have extra toes. The kittens are just learning to eat on their own, but they caught on fast and one day later are chowing down directly from the bowl. Once they get bigger and are confirmed healthy they will be available for adoption.
