Young Royals 2: Sometimes Love is not enough
One of the things I find surprising about Young Royals S02 is the Wilhelm acceptance process for letting Simon go.
Usually, in a drama, the lover tries to get her sweetheart back. He wants her to give him a second chance because he truly loves her and gets her through the power of his feelings. However, with Wille, the process of trying to get Simon back just helps him realize that (1) Simon is moving on (2) maybe, he no longer love him (3) the only person who hurts Simon the most is him for his title and his family.
Contrary to Felice’s advice not to give up his feelings yet, Wille begins his painful process of acceptance, partly to repair his broken heart (he's in a lot of pain for it 😟) partly because he KNOWS he needs to respect Simon's decision on them.
So, we have this brilliant, amazing piece of art: “the makeup scene”
Wille knows his feelings for Simon are true and he will never be able to let him go (at least not for a short time) but in order not to lose Simon, in order to let him breathe at least, he gives up and numbs his heart with resignation..💔.
He succeeded in his new role as a former lover by using the best classical royal weapon to deal with Simon and his new friend in that custome party: “Courtesy”.
He is all respectful to Marcus and give his blessing to Simon and tell him he's going to move on, too. Then, he leaves...
Even though he was given some hope at the end of this difficult journey, Wille was able to recognize for his own that (1) he lost Simon when he accepted the Crown policy with respect to the infamous video,(2) he has made an enormous error and he cannot turn away from it, (3) if the person you love no longer wants to continue the relationship, you should let him/her go and accept this loss.
Wille makes the decision to release his loved one no matter how difficult, painful or even impossible it is, and this is a turning point with the other series.
Sometimes doesn't matter our best effort, it's impossible turn back the time and fix a vessel already broken. The best we can do is learn from it, and hopefully we can do better the next chance. Turn the page and to hope the best for each other.
Here is a song which pretty much sums up my ideas on the subject. (Something in spanish because Wille’s beloved is Latin American 😉)
"Hoy te vi feliz"
