As soon as Madam Pomfrey had gone, Sirius raced out of the bedroom and into the one where Remus was waiting. Peter darted out after him and cast a silencing charm around the room. This had been Sirius’s idea, as Remus had worried about the others hearing him change. For the most part, everyone had been understanding, except, of course, Barty. He wanted to see Remus transform, but when it was pointed out that he would be the only other one in there apart from Sirius, he quietened down. Chipmunks were no match for hungry werewolves.
Peter came back into the room after leaving Remus and Sirius.
“It’s time to change,” he told them, and moments later, the room was filled with animals.
Prongs and Pandora had to stoop as the low ceilings didn’t accommodate them. They stood silently waiting for the sounds of Padfoot and Moony emerging from the next room.
A creak on the landing alerted Prongs to movement. He nosed at the cracked open door and stuck his head out to see a fluffy black tail disappearing down the stairs. He snorted and followed them, Midnight at his heels. The others would wait and come down one at a time.
Prongs went slowly down the stairs, he struggled on the small steps, and onto the ground floor of the shack. Padfoot was busy licking Moony’s muzzle, whining sweetly at him. Moony’s attention shifted from Padfoot to Prongs and then to Midnight.
The werewolf let out a low growl and raised his hackles. Midnight took no notice and prowled straight at him. He stared the werewolf right in the eye and hissed.
