Things not to say to an asexual
"A relationship without sex isn't a relationship"
Yes it is, just not one that fits your ideal of a relationship. Regardless, that doesn't make it less of one. Who are you to determine the quality of companionship between people?
Haha. So original. Humans can't reproduce asexually though.
"I couldn't go without sex"
Okay? Don't date an asexual then? :)
"What's the point in dating an asexual?"
Though it's hard to imagine, some people can actually hold a wonderful relationship without the need for sex. There are other ways to be intimate.
"Asexuality is just trauma"
No. You can be traumatised and asexual, but that does not mean the two are related. Stop the misinformed stigma please.
"Asexuality is just a snowflake label"
Eye roll. We're real, not some alien concept.
"It's cruel to not give your partner sex"
I owe absolutely NO-ONE my body. If partner wasn't happy, it's up to them to say something. We have already agreed we don't care for sex. Stay out of other people's relationships.
"Sex is an important human instinct"
And finally, the worst of them all:
"How do you know you're asexual if you've only tried a few positions?/you are a virgin?"
How do you know you're not gay if you've never had sex with a person of the same sex? That's how ridiculous you sound.
We exist, we're not snowflakes, we're not selfish or asking for rape, we don't owe anyone our bodies and we can have relationships and get married (I happen to be doing so this year).
