Can I say something controversial? I think it's actually easier to meet people to date/hook up with in person and skip the dating app step altogether. I've literally never had success with a dating app because like I can't eavesdrop on the culture until I figure out what to say. In person I can gauge the vibes and in online hobby groups I can gauge the vibes but when it's me and another random person in a chat unrelated to our interests or hobbies I only have them to go by and they're giving me nothing. because they are going by what I say
