I hear people say that we are spoiled brats for complaining about the supply chain issues or worker shortages. And all I have to say about that is those people have not experienced a disability requiring a very specific diet or specific medical supplies.
Because when you have a lot of allergies it doesn’t matter that there are store brand crackers in stock at the grocery store. Because you can only have that one brand because it’s the only one that doesn’t have that one ingredient you’re allergic to. And that’s the brand that’s out of stock everywhere due to supply chain shortages or delayed shipping. So you do without, but it’s one of 5 foods you can eat and now you don’t have a carb source.
Or when you’re feeding tube formula dependent like I am, and your medical supplier says they can’t get you your formula for a week because of supply chain and worker shortages, you just starve till then (you’re not allowed to order early). Or they tell you they don’t have any feed bags to give you this month even though you’re supposed to change it every day, so you have to reuse them even though there’s no way to thoroughly clean them and the tubing starts to grow mold despite using vinegar and a long brush to try to clean it.
Or when you’re dependent on continuous infusion of IV Benadryl to not go into anaphylaxis, like some of my friends, and you’re told to ration your supply because all the pharmacies are out, you pray every day as you slow your rate of infusion and watch the hives spread and multiply.
I agree that we are too dependent on fast shipping and cheap prices and wide selection. But seeing disabled lives in danger with these shortages is terrifying and many people don’t acknowledge these issues when discussing our current labor and supply issues.
Okay first of all to all of y’all who are hoarding toilet paper for no reason, there are people who actually need that stuff. My house has five people, one with ibs and anxiety, two with intolerances to dairy, and just five people in general. There are others that need it more than my family. Seriously, we don’t know what we’re gonna do if dad doesn’t find toilet paper at any of the stores he’s searching today

It’s just rude.
Is there a discord for the chronic illness community, especially in light of the decisions Tumblehell is making?
If not, can we make one? I’d be willing to mod.
TFW your bowels drop and you have to find the nearest bathroom NOW
That feel when you wanna squeeze out your intestines full of gas and shit like a tube of toothpaste
Some days it's really a toss up. Do I hate my stomach more than it hates me? Or does it hate me more?
