Love the way my family's been treating my Addison's flare up like I'm just lazy. My body isn't making enough cortisol to function, I physically cannot sit up in bed for very long, and I feel like I have some sort of massive kidney infection on both sides when I do anything more than get up to use the bathroom, but yeah I'm sure if I just tried really hard I could push through this and I'll be fine 😒

Guys, this is super important. My best friend has breast cancer (angiocarcinoma) and she can't afford it all on her own. This fundraiser is for the surgery itself, the six radiation chips they'll be putting in, and for aftercare costs (compression bras, antimicrobial sterile gauze, medication, etc.) She has Addison's that has yet to be controlled by steroidal medications, plus she's 30lbs underweight and both of those are going to play a HUGE role in her healing process. Her surgery is scheduled for October but they're considering bumping her up to next month. I'm not painting a pretty picture that some people with GoFundMes can because I'm literally crying while I type this. She has an 11 year old son and today she whispered to me, "I just want to see my son graduate"

Most of today was shitty. I felt terrible. Let’s just say severe gastrointestinal distress, and leave it at that.

Mocha wouldn’t have any of it - she still needed a walk. It took me an hour to get ready, with her following me everywhere.

We went for a 2.5 mile walk.

That might not sound like much, but as you can see I sweat it out. I still feel gross. Yet, I also feel pride for doing something that I felt impossible.

I can do this.

After nearly dying, a lot of things changed in my life.

I finally adopted dog, a pit bull mix named Mocha. I had been maneuvering my life so that I could adopt, but it had been 3 years since I lived in my current, dog-friendly apartment. I’m across from a dog park and next to both a vet and a pet supply store.

My normal excuses haven’t been valid for 3 years.

She’s changed my life so much for the better. Beyond providing unconditional love, she has needs that I’m responsible for. When it’s hard for me to eat, I still have to feed her. When I’m too tired to leave the house, she still needs to go out.

I’ve realized pretty quickly that there is never a perfect time. I’ll never have a perfect job and apartment and the perfect amount of time and money. Addison’s Disease has already cut my life expectancy by 11 - 13 years. Life is so precious, and so very short. 

I’m done waiting for the perfect time. Mocha and I will live our lives now.
