You can get rid of that annoying url on the bottom of your gifs when you copy paste them on the beta editor. so if you have a gif you will typically see something like this:

To get rid of that you only have to press on the link button when you paste your gif url, here:

and then just erase the url that pops up

and click 'Done'. That's it. Your gif will appear without the gray bar.

(A writing partner just did this post on their indie and I thought it was so helpful. They didn’t want people to reblog it from their indie because of the notification hell it could create but they gave me permission to post it here.)

I’ve also noticed that this happen with gif that end with gifv. So you can always delete the ‘v’ before copy/paste the gif in question.

having 1 on 1s with ur members

hosting ooc surveys where members can provide anonymous feedback is also super important . make sure u actually follow up on the feedback u receive though !

be transparent and open with communicating , but don't be too friendly / pick favourites with rpers in ur rp !

if something is wrong / someone has upset another person , u need to moderate it and try fix it / come up with a solution for both parties asap . otherwise shit will get messy

encourage diversity . employ that diversity urself

reach out to ppl who are playing less ' popular ' fcs . plot with them . connect with them . bc not many other people will

encourage people from different timezones to join

don't have an ooc chat ( i say this all the time but ppl can find these v overwhelming and notoriously cliquey )

listen to minorities first and foremost . always . if they have an odd feeling , its 99.9% of the time very valid

encourage open communication and an open door policy . do not be seen as 'intimidating' or ' scary '. trust me , theres nothing cool or healthy abt seeming like this to ur rpers .

how do you promote your rps?

this is a question that becomes more complicated with every tumblr update, lmao. honestly, with volume i haven’t had to in a long time – i’m lucky it’s been open for a while and has (what i think) is a pretty good reputation. i also have had this blog for a while and have a decent amount of active followers, so it’s quick and easy for me to promote to my own community without a ton of legwork. 

that said, when i’m opening a new group or really trying to get the word out, i do these things :

promo blog. genuinely i don’t know if these are still even worth the time, but i still check the tags for specific rp genres so maybe others do too. this is the first thing i generally do and then i’ll queue tons of posts while i’m watching a show or something. i feel like some people set the queue ridiculously high like 100 posts in a day....most of the niche/genre tags especially move SO much slower than that, it gets so spammy. lots of my promo blogs are set at like 10 posts a day or 20 posts for a fresh rp that can go in the ‘new rp’ or other popular tags. 

i know findrps was a resource a lot of people used, but it looks like their blog is deactivated ? idk someone tell me what happened to that or if they have a new blog if you know. weird because i’ve seen them on my dash recently.

shoutouts! literally, i send as many as i can everywhere. 10 a day when the rp is new and then continuously as many as i can while i’m accepting apps. i feel like getting on people’s dashboards is the best way to get the word out, so i’ll message anyone that’s accepting shoutouts. and i really appreciate any rpcs that still do this. 

tag everything. like, every post you make on the main, i mean. even if it’s just a fc change or whatever, you never know who is gonna stumble across it in the rp tag. 

other than that, it’s really just word of mouth. it can be really hard to get your rp out there these days, so i appreciate any advice or suggestions, too.
