Andrew shares his top admitted student visit program survival tips.
All Roads Lead to Oberlin, or All Roads for short, is such an amazing opportunity to experience what being at Oberlin truly means. Deciding where you want to spend the next few years of your life is a big decision, but All Roads is a chance to get a taste of what Oberlin offers - and a reminder that the hard part is over, you’re in! Looking back on my All Roads experiences, I have a few tips to share with newly admitted students:
Take a deep breath, and dive in! All Roads is only for a couple days, but there is so much to do and so much to see. Explore the college, the conservatory, the town (the Ginko Gallery has kittens in their backroom, I may have spent an hour there with some new friends during my All Roads experience) - no matter what you’re looking for, you’ll find it somewhere in Oberlin.
I’ve heard people say college is the chance to reinvent yourself, but that’s not quite it - it’s an opportunity to explore, grow, and figure out who you want to be. Just be yourself and you’ll have no trouble finding your people on campus. In fact, I made my first friends at Oberlin during All Roads.
Divide and conquer! There is so much to do and so much to see during All Roads, it’s impossible to get to every event. My suggestion is to have members of your family go to different events, and explore what speaks to each person - you can meet up throughout the day and compare notes.
If you can’t make it to campus for All Roads, don’t worry! We’ll be sharing the experience via our twitter, snapchat, and facebook - follow us @obieadmissions.
Visiting Colleges as an Admitted Student
Visiting Colleges as an Admitted Student #CollegeVisit
Visiting colleges is a very important part of the college search process. Walking on a college campus can help you get a better feeling for the college campus, community, and personality. Sometimes visits can help you confirm your feelings about a college, while other times it can open your eyes to things you did not know before the visit. Visiting after receiving your acceptance letter may be a…

Hello. I am a prospective transfer student and would like some help on the Transcript Submission process. So for the upcoming year, I am asked to submit my official transcript(s) to the admissions office [if I am admitted]. However, my finals will end on June 29 and transcripts must be submitted on/before July 1. This means my grades will not be uploaded until the second Sunday after 6/29. What should I do to make sure that ALL my grades will show on the transcript upon submission?
Your community college should give you an option to send “final transcripts” (or something of similar meaning), which are transcripts that, once ordered, are not sent immediately, but delayed for until final grades for the spring semester have been submitted by your instructors. Since these transcripts will not be sent until after the due date, you would contact the campus about the dates so that they know in advance; this might be done by emailing a specific person assigned to your admitted student profile, or by contacting the general admissions office.

It’s been awhile hasn’t it?
Tonight I wanted to write to you about what’s been happening to me lately. I’ve been wanting to write about something a bit more frustrating and personal, but I’ve never been upset enough to pour it all into a post. I am now however, so let’s begin shall we?
May 1st has passed.…

On Being Accepted to UMass Lowell
On Being Accepted to UMass Lowell
University of Massachusetts Lowell was the first university I sent my application to. I learned about this university through a cousin who graduated from the school earlier and thought it would be a suitable idea for me to apply there too. I first attempted to apply through early decision but had it transferred to regular decision because I haven’t sent all of the required documents yet. *surpris…

On being accepted to Bryant University
On being accepted to Bryant University
I first discovered about Bryant University through an education fair in Jakarta. My mother had told me to approach *that* university’s stand we didn’t really notice at first after having looked around the assembly hall and was unable to find a university that I was interested in. To my surprise, Bryant University had the major I was looking for at the time (actuarial mathematics). I met with…
