Hello darlings! School is coming up for me and for some of you already starting, but I wanted to give some advice that has worked for me and some things I have learned over the years about sleep!
I hope you enjoy this, if you do please like or reblog so others can read it too!
Can I get some advice ?
I’m a YDP (youth development mental professional, AKA a “teacher”) at my local Boys & Girls Club this summer, and I’m lost af.
I’m watching over fourth graders for now, and they are WILD! They’re right at that age where they have enough reasoning skills to argue and say they don’t want to do anything they ask you to do but not enough reasoning skills to understand that there are consequences to their actions.
I’d love to teach them manners and how to be polite, but the very notion of “being nice” makes them turn up their noses. They don’t care if they hurt each other or themselves.
Furthermore, they’re constantly bouncing off the walls, so I can’t even get them all together for long enough to do an activity.
I was a total goodie-goodie in school, so I don’t know how to get the kids to calm down and listen.
Any tips or tricks? Thanks :,)

After having this blog running for about a month and a half I’ve realized I never introduced myself to the appblr community like I’ve seen other new appblrs do. So now I think it’s time I do that! Even if I’m not completely new anymore.
I decided to make my blog about my journey through senior year and college applications, but I had no idea what an appblr was and that there was even a name for blogs like that. @liberalsmarts and a few other appblr blogs helped me figure out this whole “appblr” thing because I started noticing this trend of college posts that coincided with the name, and then I was totally on board. I thought it was so cool. So here I am! An unpopular appblr blog.
My name is Amber and I live in the US. I’m a Chicago girl but I moved to the desert two years ago. I’m 16, I’ll be 17 on August 27th, and my senior year starts in 19 days. I graduate May 24th, 2017!
I’m in the National Honor Society, the National Society for High School Scholars, my school’s dance company (Sierra Linda Dance Company), Sierra Linda Book Club, and I work at Starbucks. So far my previous advanced classes consist of Honors Freshman English, Honors World History, Honors American Lit, Honors American History, AP Lang & Comp, Advanced Anatomy & Physiology, Studio Art, and Advanced Math: Trigonometry (summer course). My advanced classes I know I’ll be taking senior year are AP Lit & Comp, Dance 7/8, and Advanced Math: Calculus (summer course). I might have Studio Art again if I get put in that class, and I could have AP Government if enough students signed up for the class (but I doubt it, sadly). I know I don’t have as many AP/Honors courses as other appblrs on here but I have a decently hefty list.
So far for college I’ve decided to major in English, minor in Dance, then go to medical school to become a Neonatologist, which is a doctor that mostly helps sick and/or premature babies after they’re born. My dream school is the University of Chicago and I have my fingers crossed that I’ll get in, but trust me I have my doubts. (And if you’re curious about any of the other colleges I’m considering I have a link you can access through my blog with tumblr open on a web browser!)
My hobbies include reading and writing (my dream job is actually to be a novelist but neonatology is my back up), drawing and painting, cooking and baking, being a potato and watching tv and movies, shopping, and..yeah I don’t do much. Procrastinating is also my specialty, but I seriously need to kick that habit during senior year. I’ll die if I don’t (junior year was one of the most stressful times of my life and it was thanks to none other than my horrible procrastination).
I have a long distance boyfriend whom I was with for a year and four months (I moved right after we started dating in 2014, so yes we’ve actually met each other), but we broke up for eight months and now we’re back together. He plans on moving with me when I go to college, wherever that may be, and we plan on moving in together after my freshman year. I haven’t seen him in two years, so I can’t wait to see him again! (Hopefully in a few months.)
If you for some reason have any questions for me or are curious about any other aspects of me then feel free to ask! No one ever asks me anything so it would be so nice lmao. Although, I do keep up a consistent correspondence with the amazing @ivybound !
PS: If you look at my blog you may notice it’s a mix of an appblr blog and personal blog and I’ve done that because I personally don’t feel I have the time to keep up two separate blogs when I can mesh them together and save time and I just feel there’s no point for me to make them separate. And wow I hope there’s no typos in this because I’ve read it like four times and typos are my pet peeve being an English/grammar freak.

I start school in a month, kill me
Are u going to start a studyblr bc you're done being an appblr?
I think I’m going to be more of an adviceblr/studyblr? Like I also want to help kids out with the college apps process because I know how stressful it’s been and places like CC are super toxic and unforgiving!
