I haven’t seen many post about this so here I am posting it myself: I failed my first exam. Back to school, after not knowing what I wanted to do. Proud of myself for getting into higher education, going full speed and giving it my all and not trying to give into the negative thoughts. But when the grades came back and I failed my tests. I am heartbroken and sad, angry at myself for letting this happen. I haven’t seen many studyblrs share this kind of stuff and I wanted to share my ups and downs so here I am. Back on the -blr. At least I can retake it, so hoping for the best. And if you’re in the same spot as I am: you can do this.

Hello darlings! School is coming up for me and for some of you already starting, but I wanted to give some advice that has worked for me and some things I have learned over the years about sleep!
I hope you enjoy this, if you do please like or reblog so others can read it too!
schedule sleep time:
just like planning homework, study work, actual work, hanging out with friends and other habits or things you like to do; you can actually schedule sleeping! It is very simple: get a time you want to lay in bed at. If you already lay in bed, your body starts to relax eventhough you aren’t sleeping just yet.
Let’s say you have to get out at around 7 a.m. before school, go to sleep at 10. If you have to get out at 5, go to sleep at 9. Just take a period of sleeping (I now took around 9 hours of sleep) and process around that your bed time and wakeup time.
An example from my own sleeping schedule: I went to bed at 9 p.m. and woke up at 5 a.m. from monday to friday. Weekends I could sleep later, or not get an alarm in the morning to sleep in.
and it is very important to stick. to. your. plan
take a nap:
Everybody loves a good nap! And sometimes it is necessary. Taking a nap means, you have to reload to do the rest of the stuff of that day. Take a nap no longer than 30 minutes to an hour, or you will start to fully sleep. That means you wake up feeling exhausted and desoriënted. We don’t want that. Also don’t take naps every day, because your body will get used to it and your sleep pattern will slowly take a toll on your body.
Stop your work:
With that I don’t mean quit your job and go sleeping, noooo. I mean, after a certain time period you can’t touch your work anymore. Homework, studying etc. It is important to have a time to do your stuff, and to relax and know when you’re done for the day. (This also comes with that I had a tight planning schedule with homework, studying and going jogging, to practise and giving practise outside of school.) This might not work for you, (but it did for me to keep my head clear.)
An example from my own time schedule: I had school from 8:30 a.m. till 4:45 p.m. , took the buss and subway home and was there around 6 p.m. Had to eat, relax a bit, take a drink etc. Then around 7 it was time for homework I couldn’t get done throughout the day at school, or stuff I had to get done. I stopped around 8:30 with all my work, so I took 1:30 hours to do all my homework I had planned. Also planning your work is key with this so, this may not work for you but it did for me.
Sleeping noises:
A lot of people have uploaded noises and sounds on youtube, like rain and all that stuff. A lot of them are for free, some of them have free download links in the descriptions to have them on your phone or you can just use youtube itself when you’re asleep. Sometimes when it is hard, or you have a lot of things going around your head you can’t get to sleep. The noise can make you calm, or focus on it so your head starts to calm down and focus on one thing that makes you fall asleep.
example: Little kids use music or bedtime stories that can be played from the ipad, cd or tv to make them sleep and calm down. They will listen to it and slowly fall asleep. There have been studies about this too, that you can find around the internet.
And at last, here are some of my favourite sounds to sleep to and maybe yours in the future too!
