the rakuzan dorms are surprisingly (or unsurprisingly, knowing how much akashi spent on tuition) nice for a high school. each standard room contained a double bed with plush pillows, a tv, and a small seating area where students and friends could congregate for studying or mindless conversations. it was shocking to y/n that teenagers were not only given such nice amenities, but also given the freedom by parents and faculty to regulate themselves in their dorms. of course, there were outliers. the dorms for scholarship students were less refined, having a smaller bathroom and only a loveseat that was shoved into a corner instead of a whole living room setup. and then there were the rooms of the school’s elite.
deep down, y/n knew akashi’s family was wealthy. they were absolutely and entirely unnecessarily wealthy, with the ability to throw their thralls of money at any person to quell their worries for months, if not years. however, the true wealth of akashi’s family always reared its golden head whenever y/n entered akashi’s dorm room. for starters, it was twice the size of the standard rooms, meaning it felt more like a starter apartment than a dorm room meant for a 16 year old. he had a queen bed, stacked to the brim with soft pillows and a thick duvet (alongside a small calico cat stuffed animals he hid under the sheets) that was certainly large enough for the two of them whenever y/n slept over. his tv was newer, and he had a small counter space that he could place a kettle and microwave on (his two largest necessities). akashi’s living space at 16 felt larger than anything y/n would ever own in the next decade, and he still couldn’t decode the feelings that surged through him whenever he had the opportunity to stay in the dorms. a lot of the late nights y/n spent with akashi were spent pondering the amount of money akashi’s businessman dad had to spend to get his son in a dorm like this.
at the end of the day, it didn’t matter. y/n was happy to be with akashi no matter where they were or the situations that surrounded them. having an extremely lavish dorm was only a plus to this relationship. it should be concerning that rakuzan did not mind having students from other schools take residences for multiple days (sometimes weeks) in their dorms, but y/n suspected that there were not many people in the school willing to defy the wishes of akashi seijuro, captain of the nationally recognized basketball team and son of a wealthy businessman.
the early morning sun peered through the floor to ceiling windows that lined the exterior wall of akashi’s dorm, the navy blue curtains catching the edges of the golden glow. the rotating fan was plugged into a far away outlet spun in a small semi circle, its bursts of air hitting y/n’s forearms as he sat up in the pit that was akashi’s bed. sleep always clung to y/n’s eyes whenever he slept over at rakuzan, and he could never truly figure out why. maybe it was the high quality mattress and pillow, or maybe it was the fact that his body indulged in the presence of his dear boyfriend. no matter the reason, he always felt drowsy no matter how much sleep he got.
y/n, against his will, was woken up by the streams of photons rushing in through his cornea, so the option of going back to sleep was quickly forgotten as soon as it was brought up. using the back of his right hand to rub his eyelid, y/n tried to remove the sleepiness from his body with little to no avail. as y/n took in the room around him, he felt the pressure from akashi’s soft hand as it rested on the fabric of y/n’s (borrowed) tshirt. his asleep fingers gripped onto the fabric loosely, so loosely that the hand would slip off if y/n moved even an inch further away from his boyfriend. after about 30 seconds, the sleep that plagued y/n from his toes to his head had slowly fallen off, allowing him to move to take in the sight of akashi.
akashi seijuro was, with out a doubt, unfairly beautiful. his skin accepted the golden light with grace, like a painting medium donning the color of the pigment with ease. his red hair was spread out like a fan, the pulled-away soft tufts drawing more attention to the sharp features of akashi’s face. he look ethereal, one arm resting above his head while the other moved to rest across his stomach. oh, his stomach. akashi’s light blue pajama shirt was lifted ever so slightly to reveal the tight but soft skin that rested over his abdominals. his whole existence was based in juxtaposition: he was toned, but not overwhelmingly so, and while he was delicate in sleepy, y/n could sense the strength running beneath akashi’s veins. he was completely and entirely beautiful. y/n wished the quiet moments where akashi was stuck in unconsciousness could linger on forever, not because he disliked akashi’s waking presence, but because he loved the silent moments where akashi looked so peaceful and undisturbed. if only y/n could get more time to appreciate the silent moments between the two of them, then he would be the happiest man on earth.
as y/n took a deep breath in, the saccades of his pupils suddenly saw a change of scenery as akashi stirred, his body turning over from being flat on his back to being on his left side. y/n stilled in his best effort to try and keep akashi from waking early. his breaths slowed as akashi readjusted, humming in satisfaction as sleep continued to be spread over his body. this return to normal signaled to y/n that akashi was still deep in sleep, so he decided to lay back down next to his boyfriend so he could easily see him. that apparently was the wrong choice, as soon after that akashi’s back was suddenly arching as he stretched.
“you’re awake?” y/n softly asked, his left hand coming up to rest in akashi’s hair. the boy stilled for a moment before sinking back down into bed again, rubbing his head against y/n’s outstretched palm. akashi continued this motion for a few moments before stalling, placing his cheek into y/n’s outstretched hand. he finally hummed in agreement, his eyelids slowly opening to greet y/n with his persimmon-colored eyes.
“good morning…” akashi whispered, his morning voice scratchy and slightly lower than normal. his eyes were heavy, the skin around them puckered as akashi weakly tried to brush off sleep. y/n’s boyfriend looked scarily similar to a gentle cat, slowly blinking and blob-like in his hands. how could one of the scariest people y/n knew also be one of the most adorable? y/n opened his mouth to speak, but then akashi puckered his lips, the rosy pink skin causing a warm flush to spread across y/n’s face.
the thought of teasing akashi in his moment of weakness emerged at the top of y/n’s brain, but he chose not to out of respect for his own heart. leaning forward, y/n pressed his lips to akashi’s, allowing the warmth of his boyfriend to spread over his body. he pulled away after a moment, akashi closing his eyes in happiness. “why are you so adorable?” y/n wondered out loud, placing his hand on akashi’s stomach.
to y/n’s surprise, the boy turned over, allowing y/n to rub the soft skin gently. the tidbit that cats will show their stomach when they feel safe was one that akashi not only informed him about, but also modeled so well. if y/n leaned in close enough, he was sure he could hear akashi purring.
y/n’s heart sped up in rhythm as he leaned closer to akashi, pressing soft kisses to akashi’s face. akashi was all consuming; y/n could not focus on anything but the angel in front of him.
“do we have to get up?” akashi mumbled against y/n’s lips, his eyelids being beaten by sleep. y/n allowed himself to take in akashi while he feigned pondering his response.
“no, we can stay here as long as you like.” with y/n’s acceptance, akashi smiled and closed his eyes before tucking his face into y/n’s arm that rested behind his head.
“i love you…” he sleepily murmured out. almost faster than akashi awake, the cat quickly fell back asleep, his body sinking into the mattress in satisfaction. y/n’s only response was a soft kiss to akashi’s temple, the sun kissing his back. his eyes grazed over his boyfriend’s figure once more before he felt the fingers of sleep grasp onto him once more, allowing him to drift off in an angels arms.
akashi as a whole was truly unfair.
