Watch Headcanon

Harry appears to suddenly have a watch in year 2 and I headcanon that he found one of James' watch in his vault.

When it breaks, Harry continues to wear it "out of habit" but doesn't throw it away when he realizes it and instead pockets it.

In Padfoot Returns, Sirius would notice that Harry's watch stopped working when he goes to look at it but needs someone else to tell what time it is. Therefore, he buys Harry a new watch and gives it to him before fifth year (which explains how he got a new watch), but if I recall, it breaks in the 7 Potters plan?

Then, although he loves the watch given to him by The Weasleys, after the war, he finds the watch Sirius bought him to give him on his 17th birthday and decides to switch them off and on (like each day or each week or something).

And when Teddy turns 17, he gives Teddy the one from the Weasleys and James Sirius the one from Sirius. Al (having terrible middle child syndrome) gets a brand new watch and Lily Luna gets her namesakes watch, which was also found in the vault.

Al, simply Al.

Al was not the one to get angry or talk to people. He wasn't the most friendly person on the block either. He wasn't a person who confronts people or give them a piece of his mind.

But some of his relatives were really asking for it. Really were.

Arthur Septimus Weasley.

His grandfather, who disliked Slytherins.

Dislike was putting it lightly, he loathed Slytherins. And maybe the reason for that was Lucius Malfoys or maybe the Slytherin Deatheaters locked up in Azkaban.

So when Al got sorted in Slytherin, it was no wonder his loving grandfather started being the distant grandfather to Al, and only Al. Some would say that he's overreacting but Al noticed it. The hugs became less and less, the gifts absolutely none(not that he asked for it)

Well, even then Arthur was polite or cordial, just nott grandfatherly enough Al would say.

Oh but things came to a turn for the worse when Scorpius Malfoy became his best friend.

His grandfather just ignored him, didn't talk to him, no visits, would walk out of the eokm whenever he talked about Scorpus.

To a point Al could understand the anger. The Malfoys were horrible people, the worst. But Scorpius's father had turned to the side of all that is good (Uncle Ron still doesn't trust him), doesn't everyone deserve a second chance?

Even the Malfoys?

According to Arthur Weasley, no.

Things got a bit too instense one day.

"And Scorpius-"

"Can we stop talking about him! Isn't there anything new to talk about?"

"But this was the -"

"Oh what's the point! My appetite to eat is gone now. Let me leave and you can talk in peace."

Oh it angered him all right.

Honestly, the taunts and comments were a bit too much. He gets it, his grandfathee is old, he's seen a lot of blood and everything. But it's been atleast 25 years! How much longer of this does Al have to endure?

Enough is enough.

So here he is, at the Burrow, about to confront Arthur Weasley.

Oh Merlin, this is such a bad idea, so many things can go wrong and hus parents would be so disappointed and then-

No, he's going to do this and he's going to make his grandfather understand where he went wrong.

"Grandad, I need to talk to you".

Arthur for his part just gave a grunt but he still looked at Al waiting for him to talk.

Al might have said a lot of negative things about his grandfather but his grandfather was a patient man at times. At times.

This is was one of those times.

"Look I'm been noticing how you ignore me and whenever I bring up Scorpus you make that face, which you're making now exactly. Also I really think you need to let this hatred of Slytherins go."

"Hatred?"

"Yes hatred." Al was trying to be calm but the painful silence made it difficult for him to think.

"I just think-"

"YOU DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO THINK"

It echoed through the room,making Al jump in fear due to the loud noise. He had never heard Grandad raise his voice.

He had heard rumours about the row between Uncle Percy and Grandad and how that was the first time Grandad had absolutely lost it.

"But it's not fair Grandad, you have done nothing but treat me like I'm an outsider to the family and I'm so bloody sick of it!"

Bloody hell, this wasn't part of the plan.

Snapping at Grandad and losing his cool was so not his plan.

"EXCUSE ME, WHAT?"

"You know it's true! You've been distant to me ever since I was sorted in Slytherin-

"DON'T SAY THAT WORD!"

"-and look how you're reacting to my house name! You act as if I-I-I'm this horrible person all of a sudden and-

SMACK!

Al felt pain on his face, he felt a slap.

Grandad has slapped him.

Arthur had slapped him

Al looked up at his Gran Arthur, and even he seemed shocked, but mostly he lookes angry, he looked red, his glasses on his nose and face old. He just looked red to Al.

It wasn't just a light slap either or a pat or anything. It was forceful and it was a loud blow and it hurt.

He doesn't know what hurt more, the pain of the slap or the fact that person was supposed to be his grandfather, his protector and he had slapped him because of the name of his house at school.

Screw family.

Al fled, eyes shimmering with tears and face red and the feeling of the slap on his face.

Arthur didn't even try to stop him.

The Burrow was supposed to be happy, loving and caring. Now it was just a home house full of anger and pain.

a couple of my favorite harry potter characters and why i love them (+ rambling)

- ginny weasley

i just. really really love ginny. especially book ginny. as much as i loved bonnie wright as ginny, the directors did her and her character wrong and so book ginny is superior to movie ginny. her whole character is just really awesome, like i haven’t read the books in forever but i remember thinking "wow she’s cool" a couple times (especially in the later books)

- teddy lupin

you’ve probably seen the post that goes like "remus lupin has a blue-haired punk son and james and sirius are laughing in the afterlife" post and anyways YEPP. yep yep. i love teddy i’ve never read a fic where teddy isn’t the coolest person in the room. anyways i love the eldest weasley/potter/granger/lupin/etc kid.

- albus potter

ok so this one really depends on the fic (also i don’t count cursed child because i haven’t actually read the whole thing and just didn’t like what i did read so yeah) but some characterizations of him are awesomeee. there’s a fic i read recently where he only had two other friends and they only really talked to each other and would get high every sunday in a little room they found off the side of a hallway and he was really good at herbology and i’m about 7 chapters in so far and?? i love him??

- scorpius malfoy

again, depends on the fic. i hate scorp in cc compliant fics because?? he just seems very eh :/ i did read a *wonderful* fic a while back by the lovely @tinyhistory (eleventy7 on ao3, wrote the iconic running on air) called astra inclinant and OH MY GODDD i am *so* obsessed with their scorpius. i 10000% recommend reading it, it’s james/scorpius (they’re in the same year and the other potter kids don’t exist, and it’s just a generally awesome story) and just?? so good?

again! completely depends on the fic (i feel it’s that way for most next-gen kids tbh) but i’ve seen some great jameses out there. i love seeing the way he interacts with his siblings for some reason?? idk he’s cool

- lily luna potter

LILYYY i read a fic where she taught music classes to little kids and she was awesomeee. i always picture her as beeing a healer or a teacher or something when she’s older. having a job that requires her to be strong-willed but while still maintaining that aspect of helping people and comforting them and stuff.

- literally any of the next gen kids

they’re all really cool and as much as i love the marauders and the golden trio i think i might love them even more.

- hugo granger-weasley

i’ve read so many fics where hugo is like best friends with al and i just. really love that. hugo is great and i think everyone should appreciate him more >:)

- fleur delacour

FLEUR MY FRENCH-SPEAKING, GORGEOUS, CHAMPION WIFE. yeah i just really love her ok? like yeah ok maybe she was a little blunt and she might’ve had moments where she didn’t sound like the kindest person to others, but let’s all remember that english is *not* her first language and that while english and french do share roots and stuff, english is also a germanic language so while it’s been heavily influenced by romance languages, it isn’t as similar to french as, say, spanish would be. so she does lack tact and may not be able to word stuff in a way that doesn’t sound too blunt yet because she LITERALLY ISN’T FLUENT IN ENGLISH. you try and go speak a language you aren’t superrr familiar with without accidentally offending someone by phrasing things too bluntly >:( (this was actually an argument draco had in a fic i read recently for why he actually found fleur nice i think? i don’t remember the details but yeah it followed along the same lines hjskdkdj)

- fanon draco

i feel like fanon draco just has SO MANY layers. like he’s always super interesting and kind of strange but in an absolutely wonderful way. i’ve read fics with museum curator draco, archaeologist draco, unspeakable draco, tour guide draco, art renovator draco, etc, and every new interest people find for draco just. fits him so well. he’d 1000% have a bunch of really niche interests and he’s totally a drama queen and i love him so much.

i read a fic once that took place after she died and it involved draco talking to her painting because he missed her so much and anyways i cried. but i feel like she would’ve been the sweetest person ever and an absolutely wonderful mother and scorpius would’ve told her everything (i’m not saying draco wasn’t a good parent either, i just think him and scorp had a slightly different relationship) and she would’ve just smiled and hugged him and told him to drink another cup of pink lemonade.

okay okay!!

1. They defend each other to the ends of the earth. When people are being snide about Scorpius’s family, Al throws hands. Same when people are talking about how Al doesn’t live up to his fathers reputation; Scorpius is ready to fight.

2. They like cuddling, some of their best nights is spend in the gardens, or the astronomy tower cuddled up together while one of them talks about nothing (or making out)

3. They rely on each other a lot, theyre basically each other’s comfort people. They’re who each other goes to when they’re really anxious/upset/angry

4. They can almost communicate without saying anything out loud, they know each other the best and can almost have silent conversations relying only on looks.

5. Scorpius is the best at cooking!! He likes to cook stuff without magic for Al. Al on the other hand is a disaster; somehow he managed to burn water. Scorpius finds it endearing.
