I find it pretty ironic that Captain Marvel had so much promoting-the-military stuff beforehand, considering the entire plot of the movie is that she's been brainwashed and gaslighted into fighting for a power-hungry organization that's actually ripping people away from their homes.

I like that what she means is she can't be bought. She will never like material "things" that would force her to sacrifice her integrity. Because, of course, she would like nice things. Who wouldn't? They just need to be offered out of sincerity. And I like that this will come back around again, to teach them both.
