Man oh man do I love this fic!
I am giving this the underrated tag, even though now it gained popularity. I remember that when it was getting updated it didn't get much traction, which was such a shame. I loved reading it while it was getting updated 🥰
BUT! This fic isn't all sunshine and rainbows. Oh no! It ANGST! And an underlying criticism of how omegas get handled in ABO.
In here, Arthur's the Omega, but guess what? He's the prince, he's supposed to be an Alpha.
(The effort I put in this is more than the one I put into my studies and it should worry me)
Also, Merlin is an Alpha! (Shocker, given that Arthur is an omega)
Both of them don't look the part, and that's lovely! Until Merlin's (first) secret is revealed! An Alpha is the one who has served the Omega Prince for so long! The one who undressed him, bathed him, put him to bed, saw him in the most vulnerable of positions... How scandalous!!
One of the reasons I love this fic is that it takes into consideration the free will of an omega. After two have been mated, will the feelings shown be true or just a fog of infatuation?
Merlin is terrified of the prospect of never being shouted at again by Arthur. And especially, that what Arthur feels for him isn't actually true. Has Arthur forgiven him for real or is it just the haze talking?
Don't worry, this tale has a happy ending, even though a couple of people die. Lol.
But I won't spoil it for you!!
Drustan is a bitch. Whatever he got, he had it coming!
Hartwin, however, is a sweetheart! I really liked his character a lot!
Give it a read! Even if you're not that much into omega verse. I mean, there's just one bit that's explicit towards the end and a heat described at the start, but unless you really don't like that stuff, you should totally try it!
