Hi! I hope you're having a good day. So, I've been struggling with finding the appropriate scents for my alpha and omega, and it's grating on my nerves lmfao. I came in here to ask if you can recommend me any dark scents for my alpha and light scents for my omega. Please and thank you!
Hi :) I don’t actually write omegaverse so I’ll just give you a few things that I enjoy based on reading lol
Dark:
Chocolate, coffee, licorice, black pepper, rosemary, cinnamon, vanilla, smoke, wood, mud, fallen leaves, gasoline, wet cement
Light:
Citrus fruits, mint, dill, lavender, starfruit, cucumber, salty ocean air
These are just a few I could come up with rn but I hope this helps!
ABO Scent List
When I was assigning a scent to every MHA character, I was desperately trying to find a scent guidelist to help me, to no avail. But y’know what they say; be the change you want to see in the world.
NOTE: these scents are not tied to the secondary gender they’re listed as. A beta scent can be used for an alpha, an omegan scent for a beta, etc.
For the scents, cause I have Thoughts for some reason:
Virgil: Probably a mix of lavenders, since those scents tend to be either soothing or distressing depending on the person (soothing to Thomas, obviously)
Logan: most likely mint, not super intense. just a reminder that he’s there, but gets more intense in certain situations
Patton: have you had hot chocolate but with spices in it? I can’t decide which spice, but picking which one might be overthinking it anyways... very warm and comforting but can have an edge
Roman: citrus and cinnamon depending on what’s going on. spring and adventure, but then also fall and just relaxing. both sides of the spectrum
Janus: rainforest. might be just because of the snake thing, but it just makes sense with how he acts and how thomas seems to perceive him in the abo au
Remus: my first instinct is to put something gross, but actually he’d probably also have something ambiguous like Virgil since he’s an acquired taste. I’m not sure what he’d smell like to thomas, but maybe something like a desert? something dry and sometimes overwhelming, but mostly not

I love this! Usually, when I do abo type stuff I have Virgil smell smoky and earthy. Like sandalwood or something. And I also love associating Roman with cinnamon. I never thought of Logan being mint but I love it! And I like what you’ve selected for Patton too. Makes me want hot cocoa with cake spice in it. Yum. I’ve had Remus smell like eucalyptus and petrichor before. Petrichor is the smell of dry earth after the rain. Both are acquired tastes, you know? I like them but I get that they’re not for everyone. Thanks for playing! Who else has opinions?

Feel free to mix it up and assign scents to any of the dynamics. I suggest you google different smells, and combinations.
Hello! Okay, so, would an Alpha sometimes have a sweet/calming scent? Oh! And, could any of the breeds(I call alphas, omegas, and betas "breeds" if im mentioning all) have a scent that will have the other types know what they did before? Like a joy scent, an insane-like scent or something?

I usually don’t give Alpha’s Sweet scents (like cookies) (doesn’t mean you can’t!) But, they totally would have a calming aspect to their scents. I like to give Alphas a more down to earth, robust scent. A lot of AUs really play with Scents. That their scent differs on their mood and/or health.
And that’s interesting, I usually don’t see it called “breeds”, usually use the word “Dynamics”. But don’t let me stop you or make you change your mind on what you call them!
Dynamics and their Scents
Okay, I went through my OneNote and I saw I didn't have anything general about Scents. Note for all Dynamics
Scents come from the Scent Gland.
Emotions play a huge role for scents.
Their base scent will always be there, emotions just change it in some way.
Some types of scents can be in more than one dynamic.
Note though, the scents are exactly the same.
For Example: Betas and Omegas can share a "freshly baked cookies" scent, or Betas and Alphas can have a "woodsy scent".
No person has the exact same scent as someone else. They can have similar scents though.
Scents help identify what dynamic someone is, who they are (individually), if they have come of age/presented, and if they're bonded.
Dynamics use Scents, their Scent Glands, to Scent things as a way to to claim someone or something, or to mark their territory.
Omega
Their base scent is sweet and calm, light and airy.
"Sweet" doesn't always mean candy or deserts. However, it doesn't mean it's not candy or desserts.
Can be things like flowers, or clean sheets.
Negative emotions, like being upset, nervous, scared, etc. will omit a burning scent.
Positive, happy emotions will omit a sweeter scent.
Sad emotions are dulled scents.
Angry emotions let off bitter scents.
Beta
Some AU's they don't have scents.
Their base scent are more food-like, warm.
Like warm drinks, coofee or tea, or fresh baked goods.
Negative emotions, nervous, scared, will have a rotting scent.
Positive happy emotions will strong freash scent.
Sad emotions are dulled scents.
Angry emotions are bitter scent.
Alpha
Their scents are full and heavy, nature-like.
Like, woodsy, herbal, freshly cut grass, bonfires, etc.
Negative emotions will omit a wet dog scent, as if they were drenched in water.Poistive happy emotions omit a fresh scent.
Sad emotions cause the scent to dull.
Angry emotions are rotting scents.

Something I've always been confused about is scenting, specifically how it is done/works biologically/physiologically. When a scent changes, is it a conscious change? Can a person control their scent? Or is it mostly not direct, conscious control? Hope this makes sense

How it’s done: Rubbing people/items on the Scent Glands.
It’s both(conscious and unconscious), really. Depends on the person. And AU. Some people have less control over their emotions and such while others are masters. Some AU’s have it, where no one has complete control over it. They may look calm and collected on the outside but they emit a very specific scent.
