Hey, it feels like a cop-out to just give one big shout out, but I wanted to say thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday! IT WAS TERRIBLE! :D 

We had a staff meeting in terrible heat and humidity, and then I went home and slept off a headache. But I did get lots of cuddles from the kittens, and anyway I’m properly celebrating my birthday next week with the family, so it’s not a huge deal. 

But I did appreciate all the birthday wishes!

The defrosting process takes a while - which is as it’s supposed to be, so at least that’s good - so Shuri goes around watering the decorative moss beds around the edges of the lab and peeking in on the pocket greenhouses regrowing the heart-shaped herb. If she sits down to get real work done she won’t look up for another hour - the really interesting stuff is down here, and she hasn’t had a minute for real work since, oh, her father died - and anyway she needs to rehearse what in the name of Bast’s kitty litter she’s going to say to the Soldier.

“Good morning,” Shuri says under her breath, moving on to the next bed. “Hope you slept well, just checking in to make sure everything is... fine in there. No need to worry! This is just routine! We do this to every vanilla gogurt tube we stick in the royal freezer.” She gestures a little too vigorously with the hand holding the watering can and accidentally sloshes nutrient solution over the floor. “Absolutely nothing is wrong. We just have to check one tiiiiny little thing and then you can go back to… sleep. So! Anything… feel…. unusual?”

There’s a loud scrape, a gurgle and resounding THUMP behind her, as of, say, ninety-eight kilos of supersoldier waking up halfway through the defrosting cycle, pushing the protective panel aside and falling like a half-frozen steak on the floor.

“...Right,” Shuri says grimly.

Yeah no. I mean, I like them but I don’t expect anyone else to like them too. I’m kinda curious why you high-key hate them, but it may also just encourage more people to try and explain why “you’re wrong and should love them uwu” Hate what you like, I’m skeptical it’s negatively impacting the population. (Since the little bastards are indestructible)

It boggles my mind because most people trying to convince me raccoons are so cool have never... actually... seen one in real life.

We have a coastal Sequoia in our backyard (I’ve posted pictures of it). We have raccoons. They walk through our yard regularly to forage in other people’s yards. We can’t let the cats out when the raccoons are out because they will fight. We learned this the hard way when a raccoon ripped a previous cat’s tongue in half. That cat had to go under quarantine, because raccoons are primary carriers of rabies. One night a raccoon went wandering out a little earlier than usual and my cat chased it. I had to chase both of them and keep them from getting into a fight.

Raccoons are bigger than most people realize, and the ones where we live in the city are easily on the larger end of that spectrum. One of the raccoons killed (and possibly ate? it’s been several years and I block it out) our neighbor’s Pomeranian. They smell. You know when a raccoon has been around because that horrible odor lingers. They mess up every water bowl we put out in the summer and have broken numerous birdbaths. They chase off the feral cats we feed so they can eat their food. Before we switched garbage cans, they’d get into them and toss trash out looking for food, making a mess we had to clean up.

I can see how some people might think they’re cool or cute (yes, they do have cute little hands, and they do look like old-timey bandits), but when you actually live in proximity to them? They cease to be either of those things.

Curse my terrible speakers forbidding me from hearing the happy purrs! Glad you have the hand holding down pat though

It’s not just your speakers. She’s a very quite purrer, and she doesn’t really get any louder than this. I have to turn my speakers all the way up to be able to hear her, and even then it’s only barely.

“So you’re a historian as well as a choreographer,” Myungdae said. “A jack of all trades, apparently. I fancy myself a scholar as well.”

“I am hardly a scholar,” Andreas signed with a dismissive grunt. “Besides for choreographic purposes, I do not have much interest in the ancient ways. I like intimacy. I am interested in how it came to be locked behind closed doors and how it can be brought out into the public eye again.”

“Intimacy,” Myungdae said.

“Was our dance not intimate?” Andreas asked.

I was on board for the original 90′s craze where you literally could not exist as a child without being at least a little into pokemon. 

it was insane, pokemon was EVERYWHERE, and this was back with only the original 151. you literally could not escape. we ate pokemon waffles, took pokemon vitamins, slept on pokemon sheets, talked about pretty much only pokemon.

I’m glad things have calmed down. things are way better now.

If you try to summon the Fullmetal Alchemist, it gets mixed up due to the common assumption/misunderstanding that the guy who always goes around in plate mail is the Fullmetal Alchemist and you get both Ed and Al.

They default to Ed wearing Al.

Neither of them is strictly enthused about this.
