Stop everything I just saw fucking Eddie Vedder on TV at the World Cup I love him
(haven't appeared in like a week but now i have a wall of text so i am very sorry for the jumpscare i'm gonna put in your inbox or if this is messy LMAO)
this is less of headcanons this time and more of just me ranting about Betty because. god i love her so much.
despite her route being one of the shortest/easiest to get, i think Betty's route (and her character, in general), are one of the most genuine romances out of the game (together of some other characters like Teddy, Diana, Memoria etc. which i love, but this isn't about them rnGEGDJDH)
i mean, she's your bed. a bed is the place where we usually go after everything happens, be it good or bad: when you're exhausted but happy after an exciting day, you go lay on your bed to rest and playback the good memories; if you're tired and sweaty after a long day working or doing chores, there are times where you'll just throw yourself right to bed before even showering, despite the fact you're all dirty and hot and bothered; when there's a really fun thing that'll happen in a couple of hours/days that leaves you bouncing on your toes to get to see it, maybe you won't sleep, but instead just stay there rolling around in bed, awake and counting the time left; when you're sick and looking like it's your worst day on the planet, you won't get up, and instead heal there.
sometimes, you'll sleep happy and comfortable, with pleasant dreams. while others, you'll be at your most vulnerable—maybe you had a nightmare that left you frozen in fear or wiggling ontop of the mattress; maybe you were reminded of traumatic memories that had you feeling weak to the point of tears, soaking up the pillows; maybe you're in a humiliating but personal moment where you snore way too loud, or you talk about embarassing things in your sleep.
the point is—the options are endless because your bedroom, but specially your bed, are the most safe spaces of your entire house. out of possibly everywhere, it is the one place where you fully take off every mask and wall you put up and be your true self; your vulnerable, genuine, sensitive self.
Betty has watched you for years, she saw every facet of your being in its most raw state, every moment where you let everything go and showed yourself as open as a book. and, even if she wasn't a childhood bed and instead one you bought as an adult, she also spend those years sharing a room with Diana—who, herself, admitted to sometimes speaking way too much and blurting things out by accident, so there is a high chance that she said things outloud, and Betty overheard every jumbled and human thought you had, in an indirect and confusing way.
and she still loved you, for all those years. from the moments where you were your best self, to your worst self. it never mattered if you happened to say or do something that someone else might've considered a turn-off or something that would make them reconsider their crush for you—everything and anything were just more and more traits that she would later on daydream about being actually there, getting to actually react to, and see the way you would either get embarassed or tease her for still being so gushy about it.
even if you could never give anything in return to her before learning about her being sentient, even if you would never return her feelings after the dateviators arrived, she was still there, loving you from a distance, merely happy with the fact she got the chance to meet and take care of you—to learn about the real you.
and that's real love, y'know? the mere fact she just loves for the sake of loving, and not for a fantasized image of the object of her affection. Betty is genuine and direct in every way she can be, including in her love for you.

🛌🐈 anon babe i wanna kiss your forehead bc that's the closest i'll ever get to your brain frfr
no you're entirely so correct in that. it sucks that Betty was the like intro? dateable but it makes sense with how they ease you into it, of course your bed is going to just be *perfect* because it's YOUR BED.
also just how you mentioned with nightmares and being terrified but she's THERE AND COMFORTS YOU while you don't even know!!! my baby!!!! my girl!!!!
also also if you end up with the hate ending for her run and it's said you like feel how cold the bed becomes? chefs kiss. all that warmth and comfort you felt otherwise was all her, baby!

I’m catching up on the 100 and my mom literally is sat here trying to convince me to hate Murphy because “All of your favorite characters on this show have been killed besides him and Raven. I like Murphy, you need to hate him.”
