Despite the lack of the bubble scene, I must say, the Siren scene was crazy good. Yes, it could’ve been done better but Athena showing up had me GAGGED (trust, I’d be Siren snack because I believed that shit) because WOW what a fabulous way to show Annabeth’s fatal flaw. That was such a beautiful way to show her pride and her need for her mother’s approval as well as her belief that she’s smart enough to handle shit alone. Like… I was stunned when I clocked that it’s not actually Athena. Only when she said “you’re the first person I’ve seen set a trap for the Sirens” did I know that bbg was tripping.
Also, again, WOW what a perfect way to show Percy’s fatal flow at work because his loyalty had him LASER focused on protecting Annabeth. So laser focused that he tunnel-visioned and NOTHING. ELSE. MATTERED. It was such a nuanced way to show their flaws, both individually and how they play into each others. It also really punctuates the fact that they’re a balanced pair who NEED each other to survive. One without the other is just lost and desperate and luckily for us we’ll get to see that happen next season YAY (she said with no sarcasm or anticipatory fear whatsoever)
