I see that you love Gilbert Blythe (who doesn't? I also love Gilbert lol). Have you ever thought about doing a Jily AU inspired by Anne and Gilbert? I feel like you would be so good at it! Plus, I've been thinking lately how cute it would be for you to write a fic where James and Lily meet as children. Obviously this is totally up to you, but just know I think you would be so good at it! (And Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorite books of all time.)

and what if i said this folder has a full outline and several chapters sitting in it, gathering dust? ha! i absolutely plan on doing something with this eventually! too many ongoing projects at the moment to think too much about it, but it's always there in the back of my mind because YEAH ANON! james and lily are gilbert and anne variants and i think there is so much delicious potential in the yearssssss of true, deep friendship gil and anne have before ever becoming more than friends.

but ooooh now you've got me thinking about this again (gosh dangit, anon!) so i feel i must tell you how much this specific bit from 'anne of the island' makes me think about jily.

It almost frightened her. “I asked you a question over two years ago, Anne. If I ask it again today will you give me a different answer?” Still Anne could not speak. But she lifted her eyes, shining with all the love-rapture of countless generations, and looked into his for a moment. He wanted no other answer.

In rereading, I've noticed how much Anne really loves spring. Of course she sees beauty in all of the seasons, but spring seems to be her favorite. These are just from Anne of Avonlea alone:

Similarly, spring is the season that Katniss associates with hope and Peeta and she was born in the spring (Anne would be jealous!) It's a tiny thing, but it keeps sticking out to me as I go through the Anne books. It seems to come up at some point in every one!

new idea: Howl's moving castle Shirbert AU

Gil is obviously Howl, a charming young magician who falls in love with Sophie the second they meet

Anne is obviously Sophie, a plucky young lass who doesn't believe she could ever be beautiful but knows the worth of her courage

Rachel is the witch (she's the first to call Anne ugly after all)

Diana is Anne's sister, a mix of both Lettie and Martha (but more Lettie) (but Martha too bc DianaxJerry is my jam)

Jerry is Michael

April is Diana and Cass is probably like...Tilly or Ruby Gillis adjacent. again its not like a 1 to 1 au, but Cass, Sunita, April and some other human characters will fill out the friends in the show ;)

ideas for Anne Au. Splinter is Hamato Yoshi, he changed his name when he moved to PEI to Lou. Draxum is named Dorothy in this. That's his buff wife, thank you very much. They're the eones who adopt the boys :)

Side note that they aren't technically married for real, they're just married in spirit. They fight too much to be married for real ( they hate love eachother okay )

I think they split the farm work and housework between them. I was gonna have them live in a human society but then Yuichi being a rabbit wouldn't make sense so I am still figuring it out. Probably they're weird cause they are orphans just like Anne is all :/

So they live in a yokai/human settlement or smthn idk Also Splinter design is still being worked on cause idk it's off for some reason. I might reference my Rural Au splinter design cause I really enjoy that one idk :/
