This is just me thinking abt my sith warrior and Vette at 2:30am. I’m not sure if it’s good bc its 2:40am. Mostly just me rambling
He doesn’t sleep the first month Vette is with him. It’s not that he thinks she’ll attack him, it’s that he doesn’t know. She’s an anomaly. He doesn’t know how to deal with someone sincere.
Vette has her secrets but he’s never worried she’ll stab him in the back or leave him to die in battle. She’s no sith but she walks into every fight with him nervous about the odds or not. Although these days she’s more likely to start fights, confident he can beat whoever she needs him to, if she needs him.
She smiles and jokes and playfully punches his arms. She talks back and criticizes, she did even before he freed her. She’s fearless in her fear and it scares him. Vette has a happiness he let go a long time ago, and he knows if she were him she wouldn’t have.
He’s scared of how she gets under his skin. He’s scared of how quickly she got there. And now, he’s scared of how the claws of deeper things sink into him.
He wants to laugh at her jokes and backtalks him master when she’s present because he knows she like it. He watches her in battle, attention divided in case she needs him and is continually surprised by the ease she fights enemy’s that would give anyone else grief.
It took him half an hour after they met to start treating her like an equal.
Anneith treats her like a partner and doesn’t mind when she paints his engine room and piles cushions in the corner. He likes to see her make it her own. He likes to see her make his things hers.
This isn’t what he’s supposed to feel. He’s supposed to be angry that she defiled something of his and had the audacity to claim it as hers, he’s supposed to yell at her for making messes and spending his money.
She should be broken by now. Instead she knows she’s safe, instead he’s explicitly said she has nothing to fear. He lies for her, threatens for her, takes blows for her.
What’s happened to him? To the man who laughed at pain and killed indiscriminately?
Anneith is afraid because he thought he knew who he was.
Vette is sleeping against his shoulder in an imperial base, somewhere she(someone pretending to be a slave) should not be comfortable. She shouldn’t be comfortable with him and she isn’t supposed to trust him. But he can only sleeps when he can sense her.
Anneith is afraid. He’ll be whatever she needs, whatever she asks.
