I think My favorite thing from this year was seeing the Marvel fandom’s pomposity and ego take some overdue and well-deserved beating’s.

Here’s what I think a lot of people aren’t getting about Brucenat.

It wasn’t bad just because of how Natasha was written (although Whedon got so many things wrong that I don’t even want to go into right now) In fact, I think most of the blame has to go on how Bruce was written.

Bruce, who comes off as a jerk in almost every scene of the movie he’s in. 

Bruce, who doesn’t say a word to comfort Natasha, to tell her she’s not a monster, after she deliberately opened up to him, something we haven’t really see. her do with anyone except maybe Clint or Steve. 

Bruce, who in the extended scene on the farm is made to look like he’s the one who’s self-righteous and good when he won’t run away with Natasha because he can’t forget the things he’s done and be happy, while Natasha is made to look like a doe-eyed, heartless bitch for wanting to chase happiness for once in her life. 

Bruce, who barely bat’s an eyelash when Natasha is captured, watches as Clint does the work to locate her, and then goes to save her himself like he’s the one who worked tirelessly to find her. 

And finally, Bruce vanishing on a quinjet into the sunset after promising to run away with Natasha, for no other reason than to protect her, I guess? Even though Natasha is clearly a woman who came to the decision on her own about running away and clearly doesn’t need to be protected. 

Here we have Natasha, who tries countless times to lift Bruce up, to identify with him, to tell him he’s not a monster. And what does Bruce do? Nothing, absolutely nothing. He only rejects her and goes back to wallowing.

Literally this relationship is 100% toxic and most of it can be blamed entirely on how Bruce was written.
