Anyone else in the chat knows the fear of wanting to make an oc have apubecense/hypopubescence while still dressing their age but worrying about people accusing you of lolibaiting or something? :')

i feel id have this issue if i cared/reguarly interacted with users where this would be an issue. i was about to give advice before realizing that if people who accuse you of doing such wouldnt take "they have hypopubescence/apubescence" as an answer they wouldnt be deterred by much else so um scratches head. i dont think it would be a major issue but i understand the worry

Within his species, which are butterflies, he's considered to have apubescence due to not going through metamorphosis and developing wings during puberty. In the culture of his species wing size and color being gendered. In my headcannon he's an adult caterpillar, which would virtually be an intersex variation in his universe.

Because of this in universe he looks androgynous among his species who highly value wings as gender indicators, so his socially imposed gender is very inconsistent. ”

I accidentally figured out how to make my alien lady blorbo/semi-OC intersex, btw :D. I just wanted to share

I originally HC'd her as intersex, and then I ended up deciding that her species is cosex and genderless, which meant that her being intersex wouldn't work. But then (for lore reasons - long story) I had to make them what I'm calling pseudo-dichogamous where they go through puberty twice (their actual reproductive system doesn't change, but their secondary characteristics change to be better suited for specific roles), and uh. The way she looks in canon happens to look like somewhere between their Pre-Puberty stage and their Second Puberty stage, but very much not like their First Puberty stage. So I've decided that she has the equivalent of hypoestrogenism and/or whatever the term is for not going through puberty (apubescence?) Though in her case it's more like semi-apubescense since she is going to go through her "second" puberty. (Hypopubescence?)

I'm not intersex (that I know of, though I wouldn't be shocked if I was) so if any Actually Intersex people want to suggest better terms, I'd love to hear them. (Also "pubescence" no longer looks like a real word at this point lol)

THIS FUCKS SEVEEEEEEREEELLYYYYYY YESSS!!!!!! I have a similar sort of label for the Homestuck trolls in my AU!!! Like, I forget the exact phrasing I usually use but just for this post lets use pseudo-gonochoristic, where they're functionally cosexual however have gonochoristic-like sexual dimorphism. Yes *I am* struggling with how internal organs are set up and especially how gonadal variations work. Plus an additional "if they eat a royal jelly substance before pupation they will (usually) either evolve into a mother grub or a drone, depending on genotypic sex" and that looks extremely interesting with variations effecting genotypic sex.

Also yeah apubescence is a lack of puberty. Maybe just throwing shit out there but labels like "mono-apubescent" or "duo-hypopubescent" to align their species' multiple puberties? Ooogh three or more puberties what would that look like for intersex folks there.... /lh

I figured you'd think this was interesting - have a picture of a flowchart I made for terms regarding my Ímí aliens and their puberties/apubescence variations featuring my conlang Saka Nuwir

The top row is the typical progression, from Kidüm-dumí to Tăsadumí to Safamídumí.

Then there's the Apubescence Variations

Dumínur is the umbrella term, as well as the term for people experiencing apubescence but aren't old enough to have reached the age of Safamídumí and therfore don't know if they're going to get it or not.

Safamídumínur-díjel (díjel means "person") are Ímí who experienced a Tăsadumí but did not get a Safamídumí.

Tăsadumínir-díjel are Ími who did not have a Tăsadumí but did have a Safamídumí.

And lastly Müsedumínur-díjel stay as Kidüm-dumí for their entire life.

And for the record, the Ímí are a cosex, genderless species who I would classify as being psuedo-sequential-dichoamous, as their actual sex/genital situation stays the same but their bodies change to be more suited for a particular function depending on their age.

They also share a planet with the Valikü and the Hăvim. The Valikü have a bimodal sex and gender situation with humans but with an asterisk (they actually have two "male" forms, the standard morph which is about as sexually dimorphic from "females" as with humans, and the very rare Prime morph which are about as sexually dimorphic from the others as an adult male Elephant Seal is from a female. The Prime morph is determined before birth but seems to be randomly occurring). And the Hăvím like three sexes and two and a half genders (the best English terms would be "Queens", "Workers", and "Drones". All "Drones" were at one point "Workers" but very few "Workers" ever become "Drones". "Queens" are born as "Queens" but in very rare situations, such as all the "Queens" in the area being wiped out, the biggest "Drone" in the area will become a "Queen").

So there's a lot of potential intersex variations with them, too, though I haven't really developed my conlangs for them, so I don't have terms for those

PLEASE elaborate about how you conjured this up.? Because I'm seeing the words and how they're structured and I Feel Like I'm picking up features from possibly a few language groups around the world and I wanna see if my intuitions are correct at all, but I feel like I can confidently guess at least Turkic influence? By the accent characters and generally How It Appears To Sound, but also becos. Teehee is that agglutination I'm seeing... or am I bad at recognizing what exactly agglutination looks like LOL

Also reading the bigger paragraph talking about the OTHER fellas who you've been mulling over. Like. Ough. I enjoy the phrasing "two and a half genders" also it humors me slightly. What does the half look like... also if I'm correct in interpretation, the prime males are less dimorphic to females compared to the non-prime ones? which is sooo cools to me also. silly folks would imagine it'd be swapped around, but naah. Nature!

Mary Louise Dahl AKA Baby Doll from Batman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures is canonically intersex, and her variation is systemic hypoplasia! Due her physical body being frozen at around 4–5 years old in spite of being chronologically in her 30's, she is canonically apubescent (link) as a result of her variation.
