Hello there friend! Once again I apologize if I’m late to the party and you’re already aware of this, but I have to talk about it or I’ll die! I was scrolling the Tenet tag on Twitter and ran across an incredible, incredible piece of writing called “Future Nostalgia” which is not villain!Neil like AT ALL - though in this story Neil (with Ives’s help) really gives everything he's got and more to stop the Protagonist from succeeding – with a twist (1)

(2) post-canon, the Protagonist goes back several years to try and save Neil after he’s been shot but… FutureFuture!Neil is there as well and he BEGS the Protagonist to let him go, to let his past-self die here and now because he knows that by saving him the Protagonist is condemning Neil to years of extreme unbearable chronic pain. The Protagonist, out of love and maybe blind faith, doesn’t listen and it all loops from there and I was like… Jesus!

(3) This story is written in Korean and I had to use a translator but it’s so worth it! The imagery, certain turns of phrase, they hit you like a truck and you can really feel the love, the hope, the pain, the hate and everything in between. It’s unbelievable, I never thought that one day I’d find myself shedding tears over Google Translator! It’s in 10 parts so far and I won’t say more in case you want to read it – I think this is a side of the story that deserves to be discussed! ANGST! YAY!

hi, friend. i’d love to read it myself but unfortunately i do not have a posttype (where the story is posted on, that i could find at least) account and couldn’t figure out how to make one so if you’d like to ramble more about it, i’m all ears.

anyways, this is such a great concept tho. i’ve thougth about what neil’s wounds would mean for him in the future, if he were to be rescued. i mean he did not only take a bullet through the skull, but also the force of an explosion AND the weight of that structure falling down on him. he wouldn’t get out of that completely unscraped, but because it was just too tragic and painful to think about, i’ve just ignored it and you know, let neil just be happy and alive and well for once in all of my fics and headcanons.

but yeah, its really cool that someone’s out there fighting through the pain of it all and write that into an actual fic. they definitely got all of my admiration 🙌
