We love our Arakki cousins and are so happy to see more of them in Planet-Size X-Men. What a showing, too! Sobunar, Xilo, and Lactuca were essential in the creation of the planet Arakko and we can't wait to see more of these little guys!

Anole meets up with his friends for a funeral of a nameless young mutant. Not only that there are the annoying anti-mutant bigots picketing at the site, there are also a group of mutants led by Caliban who show up at the funeral too. Anole follows Caliban's group to the underground where he sees not only the Morlocks, there are also the Arakki mutants such as Sobunar and Loolo Marshall.

Going to do a reread of all the times hes wrote her but I really do not like how Ewing is writing Genesis currently. Her character not only feels all over the place, but it lacks a ton of humanity and considering that shes very visibly a Black Woman that is not something you should be doing. Also gonna slide in that Im not saying Genesis needs to be a Hero because I actively do not want that and feel like thats the complete wrong direction for her character.

something which none of you (hopefully because the people who’d remember her are people i don’t want looking at my blog) remember but they are a very old oc that i’m bringing back. their real name is pronounced hiss-rising trill-k click-k click-t click which i used to spell as sekkt but it’s just easier to call her BB or beeb. 

human form is purely for the stanton creek universe (which they occasionally inhabit although they’re an original oc), belonging to @occultdigest, and being slightly less adorable (or slightly more if you have bad taste in adorable)

they are arakki! also known as an owlspidermantis. they have an actual language in the making because CONLANG

their markings glow under ultraviolet light.

Kamala Khan and Anole see a group of mutants led by Caliban attending and leaving the unofficial funeral for a nameless mutant. Anole follows Caliban's group to the sewers where he sees not only the Morlocks, there are also the Arakki mutants such as Sobunar and Loolo Marshall. At the memorial site, Kamala is called up by her brother Aamir, who reminds her that she is supposed to be attending the class. Sophie Cuckoo asks whether she could use her telepathy on Aamir but Kamala tells her to play it cool. Aamir Khan is worried about Kamala attending the so-called illegal mutant gathering as he heard news talking about it. However, Kamala's cousin Bilal, shows some disdain (though not knowing that Kamala is a Mutant-Inhuman) when he says insensitive remarks about mutants and also, Cousin Bilal is part of the anti-mutant group (as you can see the small logo badge on his vest). Sophie Cuckoo gets angry with Cousin Bilal that she tells him off and she uses her telepathy to force him to leave the place. Aamir Khan tells his cousin that they must leave the place as well he reminds his sister Kamala to attend the class. As the girls watch the two young men leave, Sophie Cuckoo explains to Kamala that her bigoted cousin is not the only one she should be worried about, it is the anti-mutant group called the Truthseekers who are watching and tracking Anole's movements.

Meanwhile in the Sewers, Anole is talking to Caliban and his group when he gets a telepathic warning from Sophie Cuckoo that the Truthseekers are going to attack them. Before he could do anything, Anole and the mutants are suddenly attacked by the Truthseekers who are now wearing the armor and carrying weapons. Fortunately, the three girls - Kamala Khan, Sophie Cuckoo and Laura Kinney arrive on time to help Anole and the mutants to fight off the Truthseekers. After defeating the Truthseekers, the girls are deciding what to do with the attackers. Laura wants to kill the attackers but Kamala refuses to let her do it. Thus, Sophie uses her telepathy to do a psychic lobotomy on the Truthseekers and she forces them to leave the tunnels.

some more arakki facts

they are eusocial, although their ‘hives’ aren’t generally as big as those of earth’s eusocial insects, usually with less than 100 individuals. queens are generally not the political leader of the hive, it is considered more customary for a sterile female to be such.

beeb was raised as part of the hunting/foraging caste

they have 3 color receptors: green, blue, and ultraviolet. they can see color in dimmer light than humans can

they are mainly crepuscular

their two front eyes have extremely good vision in both dark and light environments, they are attuned to movement

their back and front eyes are camera eyes but their top eye is simpler, a bit like the third eye of some reptiles, and serves the same purpose of sensing daylight

they primarily hunt smaller animals but can take down much larger prey as a group when needed

they have padded feet for quiet movement, they can’t climb sheer untextured walls bc they’re too heavy but they are pretty good climbers on things like ladders, trees, rocks etc.
