original pride flag colors for the crew ♡ ☠️ second season edition!
These are too fun to make :)
jim jimenez and their girlfriend working together to get jim’s boyfriend a girlfriend, truly no one is doing it like them
I need them to meet.. I feel like Archie would flirt by flexing her biceps (that would work on me)
The other woman is only credited as Roughneck#1 so we need to find her a name..
Edit : the actress name is Jennifer Onyeiwu so as someone suggested we can call her Jennifer/Jen !
I'm thinking again about the "poison into positivity" theme of "Calypso's Birthday," and I really like how much of a treat the party is for the former Kraken crew in particular. The episode doesn't go out of its way to overtly highlight this theme, but we see it over and over:
Frenchie and Jim are the ones who come to the captains asking about throwing a party in the first place, with Stede suggesting Ed use the loot in his "guilt room" to pay for it.
When Stede is a little peeved about his tub being used to serve the rum, Ed jumps in with a save for Archie, declaring, "The moving of the tub--it's a sacred tradition!"
As I've said before, Fang and his goat bring to mind the dog he was forced to put down when he first joined Ed's crew. Now Ed's money has paid for a new cuddly animal friend for Fang to love and protect. This is significant, since Ed and Fang have already had their conversation in 2x05 about ways that Ed unintentionally hurt Fang long before the Kraken era.
Given that we don’t see Frenchie’s lute at all in season 2 and the guitar doesn’t appear until this episode, I assume that the lute was thrown overboard with the rest of Stede's nice stuff during the Kraken era, and that Ed's money is used to buy the guitar before the party.
Obviously, Izzy gets his face made up and sings for the crew. Ed doesn't have a direct hand in any of that, but it does come in the same episode where he apologizes to Izzy about his leg.
The earlier draft, where this episode featured the wedding, would've been a way to show Ed's amends to Lucius--which makes sense, given how Lucius is the one who remains the most upset after Ed's apology in 2x05. But when they changed the direction for this story, I'm glad the show instead gave us all these little ways demonstrating how the party is especially good for the former Kraken crew. Poison into positivity, indeed!
