Gregory Headcanons!! (My AU):
Gregory’s looks do NOT match his personality AT ALL. I just think it’s amusing because a character’s looks not matching their personalities/exterior demeanor is kinda hilarious and makes for a pretty engaging character. This 4’6 foot tall gremlin woke up after reincarnation ready to fight God and fight you. Like, seriously- imagine this kid with the prettiest and the most aesthetically pleasing and ‘cute’ facial features- large, curved and gentle dark eyes, gradient in nature and glimmering with light as if resembling a butterfly/insect’s compound eyes, with youthful and soft facial features that literally scream of a submissive, demure and soft-spoken personality- plump lips, high cheekbones, thick eyelashes and hair, perfectly trimmed eyebrows and a pale complexion tinted with an apricot blush in some places, lithe and slightly slender body alongside a cute button nose- everyone upon first glimpsing him assume this kid’s an innocent naivete with no sense of how the outside world is like. The kid even has a nice voice- clear and light and even silvery- mellow by default and always managing to express an emotion whenever he feels like it. It’s even soft-spoken, particularly mellifluous and nectarous when he’s distinctly happy or pleased, and it only sounds like he’s in a near-constant state of partial annoyance because he’s wary and standoffish as an exterior due to his paranoia all the time. His entire appearance is designed/meant to inspire a sense of paternal protection and responsibility in adults and even in other kids, and the moment this guy opens his mouth you bear witness to the most domineering, obstinate, outspoken and brash personality with a healthy side dose of terse. Like, ever. Of course, he does has his moments of kindness and empathy, as well as a strong sense of camaraderie to those that work hard to earn his trust, love and respect, and consequently, his unfaltering dedication in his friendship with you. But overall, this kid’s exterior is is basically very strong-willed and kind of arrogant, rude and even sometimes patronizing to those he particularly dislikes or distrusts, contrary to every first impression of him that others make.
The concept of romance and dating is… strange, to Gregory. Of course, he’s happy when other people get into relationships and, despite his teasing, actively encourage such things among others who desire for romance (such as when Vanessa begins to date Luis), but when the concept is applied to him, it basically terrifies him. His mind refuses to go any farther thinking about kissing and touching, and to say he doesn’t know how dating works would be an understatement. Sundrop, being the oblivious sweetheart he is, tells him that he’ll find someone he loves romantically one day and Gregory basically has to take a moment to manually calculate how to come out to good old “Uncle Sunny”. Like, what is he supposed to say? “Dam thats cool bro but um im aroace chile anyways so”? Even in his past life he leaned more towards platonic, friendly and familial (family oriented) relationships, preferring to love people like friends, younger/older brothers or sisters or even parental figures. If he loves you as all three (a close friend, an older sibling and a parental figure), consider yourself lucky because he will utterly love you and commit to you even after the end of existence itself. His trust, respect and love is a reward and privilege that people have to work hard to gain- but once it’s rightfully earned, then by god will you feel lucky and so glad that you know this kid.
Gregory respects and values (respectable) people for who they are, even if it doesn’t look like that’s the case. He’s kind and always pays back his debts, even if he doesn’t look like that type of person (evidenced when he fixes Chica, Roxy and Monty after expressing sincere and genuine regret and sorrow for breaking them, as well as finding and repairing Glamrock Bonnie and Foxy). Basically a tsundere, if one is willing to significantly oversimplify. Gregory also possesses a strong sense of justice, similar to when he as Evan was still alive- finding beauty in transience of life and considering longevity torture, being utterly flabbergasted and disgusted by William’s pursuit of immortality, seemingly unable to fathom his father’s goals and mindset and completely unable to wrap his head around how far he is willing to go to achieve the recreation of immortal, “perfect” life. He even is disgusted with himself originally, as he is the first example of perfect, reincarnated and immortal life created at the hands of his father, calling himself a “monster” which causes him to mentally spiral for several months before he finally gains his fortitude back.
Even before and after being able to reconcile with his newfound abilities and immortality, Gregory’s strongest desire is to live a happy and fulfilling life alongside his family and friends, which is why when he regains his memories of his past life and who he once was, he actively spends days upon weeks grieving for his family before he finally sets out to find them. The desire for reclaiming the lost and the reunion of those he loved is the primary driving force behind his evolving personality, also known as why he turned from a timid, apprehensive crybaby to a no-nonsense, ridiculously bold badass with an iron resolve and a hero complex whilst still retaining his strong beliefs, sense of self and his heart of gold. It’s also the reason why he loosens up a little during his excruciatingly lonely and painful time spent alone, hiding out and living in the Post-It Note Room inside of the sewers- he becomes more candid and earnest in nature, choosing to make wisecracks and sarcastic quips to lighten every situation he’s in- he also becomes more expressive and passive-agressive as his confidence and bravery considerably increases- Michael and Elizabeth are baffled at the personality change (CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT BABYYYYY).
Gregory’s pronouns are he/him, at least, usually. You can call him by ‘they/them’ too- just be sure not to call him ‘it’, as that will considerably hurt his feelings on a deeper level than he would like.
Gregory possesses a strong bond with Glamrock Freddy- almost an adorable combination of a strong brotherly relationship with a healthy and close father/son relationship. When Freddy expresses sorrow about Bonnie’s ‘death’ and says that he ‘misses him’, Gregory feels his own tragic experiences of loss (the loss of his humanity, his dignity and his past life, as well as his family and friends and home), and actively expresses a strong sense of empathy via providing genuine comfort to Freddy in the form of taking the latter’s hand and encouragingly squeezing it: “It’s okay to be sad- I’ll stay by your side if you want to grieve. If you want me to. Or I can leave- it’s up to you, Freddy.”
The white polyester/plastimetal chassis that is located between Gregory’s fake skin is actually quite malleable and has exact give and pull to it as human skin/muscle would. It’s physically way tougher and more resilient than human skin, but it bends and twists and it’s palpable, anything but a hard shell. The chassis also has the ability to become translucent/transparent, either at will or on accident, sometimes caused out of emotional distress or physical damage if on accident. It can also retract/deactivate due to a high exhaustion of power.
Gregory is incredibly technology savvy, caused by him being a robot/android and during his early first years spent post-awakening/post-reincarnation. Whilst living/hiding in his years of solitude, he frequently took to self-monologue, writing and drawing practice on sticky notes, and examining/modifying his own hardware and software as a hobby whilst he was recovering/regaining his memories. As a result of such things, he basically taught himself how to program and alter programming, and because of this, he became a phenom- an incredible, unusually skilled hacker for someone as ´young´ as him. He also has the ability to manually interface and hack into technology via wirelessly connecting to computers he physically interacts with via inserted flash drives or keypads, such as when he breaks into Fazbear Entertainment´s S.T.A.F.F. files after manually decrypting them and making them accessible to a single outside source- him, doing this by interfacing with a touchpad connected to the security system´s database via one of their computers. His knowledge of hardware modification also enables him to hotwire a certain number of devices- the gang is initially surprised by his knowledge of technology until they find out that he´s a robot. He also displays a quite playful and mischevious side to the technicians, hacking into their communications systems frequently while they were still unaware of his presence and broadcasting strange messages that he personally thinks are funny. He recounts his time as the ¨ghost¨ or ¨phantom¨ of the Pizzaplex to the rest of the gang with a fond smile on his face post-endgame.
Gregory possesses a strong friendship bond with Cassidy- their relationship might be what people may have considered the future of as being “queerplatonic”, as they are closer than the average “best friends” (two aroace icons we stan). Cassidy, after being freed from the Princess Quest games via Gregory playing and completing all of them, follows Gregory around, chatting and bonding with him, manifesting herself in the form of a metaphysical soul taking on her original appearance from when she was alive. She also actively aids him alongside Glamrock Freddy/Michael and now Vanessa/Elizabeth (after being freed from Glitchtrap’s control) in helping him survive and make it out of the Pizzaplex, and later, when Gregory chooses against his better judgement not to leave, to solve the secrets of the Pizzaplex, find the other children that have gone missing, as well as their other friends who are present inside (Charlie, Susie, Jeremy, Gabriel, Fritz).
