The longer I think about it the more strongly I feel about aroace Sebastian

He certainly has a strong aesthetic attraction to Ciel and goes out of his way to make his appearance beautiful, but I gotta be so honest with you. I dont think Sebastian even has a libido. Intent is just on and off like a faucet and he form fits to what the other person wants, if he has motive to (as we've seen a couple times, such as with Beast)

He desires Ciel but it's Ciel's soul he craves and so Sebastian is clearly sex positive/views it as a sort of game with people when needed. It never starts with him thinking anyone is attractive

But with Ciel I'm like this is just...

An interface of sorts.

This isn't even Sebastian's true form. He's emulating. This is a compatible shell.

Physical touch/sex is way for Ciel to experience being close to him and for their physical forms to mimic what Sebastian wants without it actually being so. It's a substitute/placeholder. It's like eating when you aren't hungry but something happens to taste good so why not indulge in that chocolate bar

Ciel's body is a vessel and this is the only form he knows so Sebastian adjusts accordingly and is possibly even enthusiastic about affection and sex (people can enjoy the act without personal attraction, particular shoutout to kinky ace people), but I don't get the vibe that any craving or purely sexual attraction comes from Sebastian himself

Same goes for romantic intent. Sebastian form fits to the closest, most intimate roles he needs to fill for Ciel (which in canon I'd put it down as a really charged secret third thing) but again, I think explicitly romantic intent would have to start with Ciel and get reflected across into Sebastian who would then lean into it and let it be another way they're bound together

They belong to each other in such a striking and intimate way already that the details are sort of up to Ciel and Sebastian just mirrors him/manifests what he needs, and all human bonds just pale in comparison to how Ciel is already promised to him and how Sebastian is compelled to Ciel until the contract is up so the nature of said bonds just doesn't Matter to him as much

This is all to say aroace but sex and to a much more particular extent romance positive Sebastian ftw to me

one of the reasons i like to think abt max (and maggie) being aroace (aside from going against canon setting them up) is I really like to think abt how both of them would see romance so often and just. They don't feel it

Max seeing it w his dads, the various pairings in team sketch from Nodrian to Osby to Danissa, etc. And since he hasn't grown up normally, he couldn't easily assume "well okay, I just haven't met anyone to feel that way about"

But, during all his efforts to be connected to everything outside the quarantine in the news coverage he's watched to the comics and media Adrian would bring him, he's felt.... nothing. He's never had a crush, he's never felt anything like the attraction like romantic and sexual attraction are explained

He gets to be outside the quarantine and even then, when he meets people in person, he doesn't like them like that. Imagine he starts to feel alienated again, different to everyone around him. He knows when Love Conquered All at the end of supernova isn't just romantic love, but the public and press certainly liked to emphasize that part.

Thinking about Max himself being noticed by everyone, how that spotlight could be so uncomfortable. And how that discomfort could be amplified by the fact that there are likely characters his age crushing on him (aside from Maggie but put a pin in that.)

And he doesn't get it. He's different.

And on Maggie, I've talked before about how I like to think of her as lithromantic or frayromantic (probably more often the latter), if I don't just hc her as just aro, and that still applies here. Maggie having a brief crush on Max, and then it goes away as she gets to know him. They both relate to each other a little on being different, uninterested to disgusted by romance, feeling different from the rest,

AAAAND since their young they BOTH get to deal with comments from ppl teasing them abt how they are so obviously in love/have crushes on each other when they hang out, they hear "You just haven't found the right person" esp Max hears abt how he's so young and has been isolated for so long he cant know yet, etc. Just, insert any comment disrespectful to young aro and/or ace ppl

I like to think abt them to that, as well as if they knew abt those labels how they might question them. Maggie (going w frayromantic) had a brief crush on Max, and Max has that doubt from how he HAS been isolated from ppl for ten years.

I certainly can! I know you only asked for aro and ace but I’m gonna expand on some of them simply because we need more characters who are aro OR ace, rather than them all being aroace specifically.

Ace:

Stanley Uris, not actually sure where this hc began? I think I just saw other people making ace Stan posts and said ‘Yeah I can get behind that’. (See also the nb Stan hc because that’s Good)

Luke Patterson, again I think this is just because I’ve seen other people hc him as ace, but the pan ace Luke hc lives rent free in my mind

Naimi-Selari-Nykantia/Nyx, I just fucking love her teasing Callum and Rayla for their feelings and decide she’s aro based on that alone, let more aros bully romance pls

(Honestly it’s a lot harder to think of aro hcs just due to the fact that a lot of characters are/have been in romantic relationships that I either enjoy or see as happy and healthy)

AroAce:

Five Hargreeves, you’re telling me that he genuinely fell in love with a mannequin? No he has Trauma and latched onto an inanimate object. Also I think aroace people should be allowed to commit a little crime, as a treat, y’know?

Another canon character, Zephyr Hernandez, genuinely teared up a little when he said he was aroace :’)

Luke Crain, another Luke for the list, seen a lot of good readings of his character and how he was written as aroace and I definitely see where they’re coming from! He’s aroace in my heart
