Olm as our mascot (please)
If axolotl is one of asexual’s mascots, can I vote the olm for an ace/aro or aromantic mascot?
—They’re often mistaken to be related or similar to axolotls (much like ace and aro) when they are in fact very different.
—They’re gregarious which personally I think makes them good mascots because being ace/aro doesn’t mean you’re not social or don’t want other people in your life.
—They should get some love. Also them being endangered, it’s good to give them some attention.
—It does breed, but the same point could be made with other mascots. Also the partners don’t have to touch each other to breed, it’s similar to fish, and at least some don’t become sexually mature for fourteen years (long for an animal) if in the right conditions. Not really related to the point, I just think that’s interesting.
—People once thought they were baby dragons, dragons being another mascot (in that case would they be the “newly out” mascot??)
—Can live for a loooong time, and can also go ten years without food. That could fit with the “we’ve been here forever” thing but idk is it a stretch?
—Capable of forming platonic bonds, including with its owners and other olms.
(Idk honestly I just really like them. Though they do kinda match demisexuality because they can be friendly and bond with those they’re familiar with, but dislike strangers).
Anyways Olm for president I mean mascot
