My Very Academic Argument for the Hogwarts House Alignments of the Castlevania Trio
For @ashesandhoney , a continuation of our prior fight. This was getting too lengthy to just tack onto an earlier post.
Trevor, summoning all the enthusiasm of an overworked cubicle drone plodding toward the office: Right. There's a monster. Gotta go slay the monster. It's not gonna get slain if SOMEONE doesn't do it. I appear to be the only one qualified.
-- 2 seasons later --
Sypha, in her Gryffindor scarf with Gryffindor buttons all over her bag, wearing a Gryffindor robe which half-obscures a hand-me-down Ravenclaw sweater: Hey! I heard there's MONSTERS! Wanna go be HEROES and slay some MONSTERS together? IT's GONNA BE GR9!!
Trevor: Yeah, Monsters. It's... did you say... together?
Sypha: Yeah! Together. I'll get top-billing bc HONOR and GLORY, but I need a sidekick and it's just better with friends, right?
Trevor, who's tail would have started wagging if he had one,: Yeah. Yes, it is. Together. Let's slay some monsters. :) I'll follow you wherever.
Alucard, who has clearly just finished enough monster slaying to last 50,000 lifetimes: Woe is me. Life is a ditch, and my existence is the horse dung at the bottom of it.
Sypha: *thoughtfully takes her OTHER glossy-printed monster-slaying party invitation and puts it back in her pocket.* *nods* Yeah, you deserve a break.
Trevor: *snaps fingers* You know... between your house and my house, this is the most bomb-ass library in the universe.. and... and somebody's got to look after it.
Alucard: *raises sorrowful head, clearly listening*
Trevor: and... and you know. This big, nay, GIGANTIC stack of dusty books... somebody's got to... read them. And then categorize them. And protect them. And lovingly give each of them one of those... duck numerical file... things... Sypha, help me.
Sypha: Dewey Decimal System number.
Trevor: Somebody's got to give each of those suckers a Dewy Decimal System number! Nobody's better for the job than you, my friend. And what's worth living for if not that?
Alucard: *dead serious* Omg. Ur right.
Final Wide-shot: Trevor wrapping his family's Gryffindor sword in his personal Hufflepuff blanket while Sypha slaps a tiny Hufflepuff sticker on the Gryffindor-custom paint job she did to Trevor's cart when he wasn't looking. They ride off, waving goodbye to Alucard. Alucard wears a tiny smile as he waves back, wrapped in a Ravenclaw blanket sipping tea out of his Ravenclaw mug.
shallura superstars! - ashesandhoney
in participation of @shiroallura‘s shallura positivity project, i want to honor fellow writer @ashesandhoney!
you are such a charm in all the fandoms that you are in! i know that you’re super into miraculous ladybug and a bunch of YA novels, but it’s so awesome that you’re a dear part of the shallura community as well! you are a gifted writer, and once upon a time last year, i was fortunate enough to receive 22k+ words of beautiful writing (entitled “Touch”) from you for the shallura exchange 2017! a wonderous gift to be honest.
one of my favorite pieces that you’ve written (one i still remember) is “The Place We Call Home” -- a well drawn out piece of shallura cuddling and massaging and back rubs and talking about earth and altea -- and then in the other chapters you explore a bunch of your super interesting headcanons (SO MUCH BACKSTORY BUILDING i love it). an absolutely fascinating fic.
anyway, all props to you for being able to contribute to the many fandoms that you’re a part of and still make time for shallura. much respect and much applause. it’s inspiring how you continue to push yourself to create content and write. you are amazing.
Fanfic Recs
So, yesterday was International Fan Works Day, and one of the events that the OTW organized was a Feedback Fest where we leave feedback and also recommend some of our favorite fan works. Well... My fanfic reading has really slowed down since July when I got caught up in my new job. BUT I really like supporting fan work creators, so I’m going to try to throw together a short list for you anyway. Here we go (in no particular order):
Everything by ashesandhoney. I’ve been working my way through her TID fics for a while now, but because of the aforementioned slow down in my fanfic reading, still have some to go. Her TID fics were actually some of the first TID fics I read after I finished the books, and they were the first that I really, really loved.
torestoreamends writes some great Scorbus fic, which has been making up the bulk of my fanfic reading since Cursed Child came out and I started writing my own Scorbus fic.
In the Sin Bin: I’ll be the first to admit that non-magical AUs usually aren’t my thing when they’re based on fantasy worlds, but good authors can always make exceptions. I also know absolutely nothing about hockey, but this story drew me in fast. It’s one of the best Malec fics I’ve read in a while.
It’s Tea Time series. This is a series that currently has three works in it. The first one is very much focused on Scorbus, but the later ones expand and you get to see more of the other characters and their relationships.
And there you go. Please do check these authors and stories out, and if you do, be sure to leave them kudos and comments!
He double checked the locks on the vault and stuck his head in the kitchen but of course everything was in order. He had checked the lock that morning and the cleaning lady had been through that afternoon and the apartment looked like a show room. He picked up one of the pillows and tossed it on the ground just to ruin the effect a little bit. Then he sat with a pile of math problems and waited for his phone to ring or a knock or for an Akuma to break through the wall and save him from his own thoughts.

1 9 39 for the fic asks. It is possible I sent this twice.
Thank you for the ask, hon! You did send it twice. No worries! :D
1. What was the first fandom you got involved in?Anime in general. I was part of this ancient Yahoo! Group in my country called the Pinoy Otaku Mailing List, and we talked about anime there, exchanged ideas, analyses, and set up screenings because there wasn’t a lot of anime on local TV then. It was basically our tumblr, but through email. It was wild. I was also active in IRC groups, and went to the first local anime and manga conferences. I didn’t write fanfic until ten years later, though, and it was one single fic for Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo.
9. What are the best things about your current fandom?OMG, THE TALENT AND CREATIVITY. My goodness, the amount of quality content created by the Miraculous Ladybug fandom is MIND-BLOWING. And not just the talent of a few select people, either. There are so many brilliant writers, artists, cosplayers, headcanon creators, dubbers, video editors, prompters, and even shitposters, because those shitposts sometimes lead to more things being creative.
I also especially love the love. I mean, there’s been some drama recently, but all fandoms go through that as they grow. But I have found beautiful friends in this fandom, and their messages and asks and reblogs envelope me like a warm bear hug.
39. What is you greatest strength as a writer?I’ve been told that it’s two things: characterization and storytelling. When I was only making original fiction, I was told that my characters were solid and tangible, and that I maximized them, mind, body, and soul. I hope to be able to do this with my fanfiction writing, as well, and present the characters properly.
For storytelling, I was told that I weave thought, dialogue, and narrative seamlessly. At the time, I wasn’t aware that I was doing it. But now that I’m aware, I try to do it better every time.
Ask me fanfiction questions!
