So, did you like the first three episodes?
i am so torn! i think that if i were able to separate the show from the books, i would love it. i think it is probably an objectively good show but not a good adaptation.
they’ve watered daisy down a lot which makes her a lot easier to like from the get go which is so not the point of her character. same with the songs. i know that tjr is not a song writer and i also know that her lyrics would not translate well into real songs but the lyrics were so much darker and more impactful. (the songs absolutely fuck, i will give them that, but they are not mortally wounding like they were in the book)
it also seems like the show is trying to raise the stakes of all the relationships which i just don’t think was necessary: like changing the origin of the dunn brothers and how eddie in the show has been involved since the beginning, eddie being in love with camilla, billy leaving the band and eddie planning to take over as the frontman, ect. the two of them had enough reasons to butt heads in the book, this takes it to a different level and changes eddie from kind of an asshole to someone with more understandable motives.
also by having most of the show take place in the 70s without the present day reflection, we’re missing some bomb ass lines
overall everyone seems more watered down as characters with high stake plot points.
