okay- i know that asl isn’t aac, and its its own language, but i dont know the language in a way like if i was going to become bilingual or something. idk. i USE it as aac. it augments verbal communication the same way text to speech does, and cboard, weavechat, gestures, drawing, writing, behavior and communication cards do. like for me it’s used as AAC. not a language in itself. i WISH it was the only language i used becuase then i wouldn’t ever be expected to speak, but not enough of my family knows asl, and i don’t know enough of it anyway. iddkkkk. i hope this isn’t like offensive to the Deaf community or anything im just curious why signing cant be listed as aac. because when someone asks me to list the forms of aac i use, i think it would feel like im leaving something out if i ddidnt say asl also. IDKKK.
I'm looking for some queer ASL resources! I particularly want to see which terms have gotten their own word signs and maybe see where people are discussing potential word signs for terms (like where people might be workshopping stuff like this.)
I have a handful of queer ASL videos on a playlist that I reference often, but a lot of them are like 10 to 13 years old and I know plenty of new signs have been developed since then. I'd love to know! Please send me whatever resources you know of!
LESBIAN DEAF COMMUNITY ARE THERE SIGNS FOR BUTCH AND FEMME!?
I’m learning ASL and as a raging dyke need to know the related signs where our cultures overlap. For region references I live in New Mexico :P
Most of the official resources I have access to through my university and library don’t have signs related to anything gay unfortunately.
Inspired by @tourmaline-sys doing this in polish sign language, so I recreated it in American sign language! It was super cool to watch their vid of a different region's sign.

Guys I've decided that this summer is my summer of learning things I've always wanted to learn/improve, so if anyone has any good YouTube channels for learning ASL and for beginners who want to get better at art, I'm in desperate need of recommendations!
this upcoming new year I really want to finally properly learn braille and ASL! even though I don't have a visual impairment or am Deaf/HoH I just think they're useful things to know and it makes the world a little more accessible and I'd love to be able to chat with people in ASL or help translate braille. if anyone has any good resources please let me know!
After numerous attempts over numerous years I have successfully memorized the ASL fingerspelling alphabet and I owe it all to this website
It quizzes you!! That's it, that's all it took! I had a tab open with the full alphabet in case I got stuck, and after 3 days of this I'm both signing and understanding at the speed of snail, but it's miles ahead of where I was.
