Okay so I’ve done intro posts before, but they were pretty much only about my writing. This one is gonna get into more who I am as a person before I start on the endless list of WIPs lol.
Aaand that starts with the fact that I’m not a singular person. I’m part of a plural headmate family called The Inklings System (our name is a direct reference to C.S. Lewis, JRR Tolkien and Co.).
The only three of us who write, both stories and posts for this blog, are Aven, Peregrine, and Elena. I’m Elena at the time of writing this, but any of those three names works for the online presence we share.
I’m 22 and traumatized, I do curse a lot and discuss writing traumatic stuff for catharsis on here, just a heads-up.
I mostly post about my/our fiction writing here, but there’s an occasional sprinkling of random reblogs. I write New Adult/Young Adult sci-fi and fantasy centered around humor, healing and heart. I’m a sucker for found family, queer rep, dragons, mythology reworkings, and “the mortifying ordeal of being known” as a trope, plus tieflings and similar non-basic non-humans.

Thinking a lot lately about ASOM, and about whether George and Alex knew what was happening, if Hazel kept them up to date with letters.
Did she write letters to Alex (and George, at this point) like she did during Jolly Foul Play, only there's no emotion in them, it's all matter of fact and objective and cold, in a way that makes George and Alex look over at each other in the Weston common room worriedly and immediately get to work penning responses.
'Someone has murdered a maid, and my baby brother has been kidnapped. I don't know what to do. Me and Daisy are attempting to work the case. I will write to you with updates.'
Did they arrive late in the post, and after she got back from Hong Kong, and so Alex and George come round to the flat one day and tell her "we've got your letters" and Hazel doesn't know what to say because all that was supposed to have been left behind in Hong Kong. She doesn't want to face it, here in England, where nothing happened to her because ASOM only reaches that far in whispers, not in the shouts of scandal.
Or do George and Alex only find out because Daisy won't stop going on about it, and the more she does so, the more they look at Hazel with pity and worry and concern, which they shouldn't because Daisy seems to be missing out a crucial bit of the story which is that the victims all knew Hazel, and she couldn't save them.
Does George say to her "You've changed." and she replies "Hopefully for the better?". He just takes her hand. Alex tells her that he's so sorry for everything that happened and that she doesn't deserve that. Hazel supposes his words should sound hollow like when everyone was saying they were sorry her grandfather had died, but they don't, mostly because noone has ever said to her before she didn't deserve it. It feels nice to be told that, especially from someone as sincere as Alex.
I am over the moon, this story took five years but it's been absolutely worth it. It's not perfect, but hey, anyone's first try at anything is bound to be a wee bit crappy.
