This AVIAN was once a sparrow who merely enjoyed observing humans. Today’s contributor spotlight is on Asou, one of our illustrators! Proficient with both digital and traditional art, her style is distinguished by clean, deliberate linework. Her digital artwork is graphic, with slightly-saturated colors and flat shading while her traditional pencil-work has a softer shading and an almost dreamy quality.

The silent killer. The assassin. The Shirasu.

Manga chapter spoilering beneath the cut.

I really enjoyed this week’s chapter because it gave the team some time to shine. Enough that I actually want to write about it a bit O.o.

I said last week in a discussion somewhere that I wanted Shirasu to hit long and bring the runners home. I got that and more.

Great moments for Kanemaru and Asou too. Also some awesome artwork for Toujou crossing the plate. Plus a fair bit of praise credit to the clever play from last week of Mochi and Haruichi, which showed the team how Urabe pitched and allowed them to take advantage. 

This is what we want to keep seeing from the Seidou batting lineup, in this last, most important of summers.

There was also that one piece of dialogue when it felt like Miyuki and Eijun were really on the same page about the battery, the pitching, and so on:

Eijun: But the most important thing is how the game moves in the subsequent innings. To not let it become a mad batting contest through proper pitching.

Miyuki: No kidding. By properly shutting them down this inning, we can take control of the flow of the game.

Also my favourite quote of the chapter, honestly...

Miyuki: Six runs, huh? Well, I guess it’ll do...

I really hope that TJ is going to build on this going forward now, let Eijun pitch well and get the game called in the fifth.

Aside the fact Eijun is sleep deprived and stressed, I can’t see any positives for him if he concedes something after that emphatic start, and he doesn’t need any more confidence knocks.
