Oh misunderstood teenage daughter who's hated by the fandom for being a moody teen and rightfully crashing out because of the circumstances around her oh how I love you<33
Love that when Dexter is kicking the shit out of Astor's friend's abusive step-dad, it's QUIET. You get to really sit in how precise and scary he is without the editorializing, a great reminder after four seasons of what our beloved protagonist is. It's quiet because THERE'S NO HARRY. Dexter talks many times about wishing he could love the kids and Rita, he's so stupid, he thinks about it all the time because he DOES love them. And he loves Astor so much that the code dissolves, the voice settles, Dexter and his dark passenger are the same DILF in this moment.
When he does get back to his car, Harry appears and is proud of him. Dexter awards himself this shining moment because protecting Astor and her friends feels so RIGHT he can't process it not being part of Harry's code (even though Harry is so neglectful of Deb and obv conditioning your child to serial kill is abusive, a touch toxic). And his goodbye to Astor... it's the most organic I love you he ever gives. He doesn't ponder it or realize he should say it. He just has to. Because he does.
Could Astor Bennett solve the Kira murders?
Could catch Kira, would survive
Could not catch Kira, would survive
Could catch Kira, would not survive
Could not catch Kira, would not survive
New Dexter incest ship unlocked (and he isn't included)
It's interesting to see Brian and Cody have that instant connection with their Dark Passangers while ignoring Astor, I guess it's says a lot about how much closer Astor and Dexter actually are, I mean, she saves his life twice by the end of the series and she's a bigger character than Cody. If Cody and Astor are a reflection of Brian and Dexter, Astor is probably Dexter's. Also, I'm pretty sure Cody didn't kill anyone during the series while Astor nonchalantly killed two men before 12/13 so it was pretty unfair to ignore her like that 😒 -1 point for Brian
I do love Astor so much
Actually the plot hole that bothers me the most is Astor and Cody. Do they know where Harrison is? Does Harrison know where they are? What was their relationship like between s8 and New Blood? Did they have a relationship at all? Harrison managed to track down Dexter as Jim Lindsey surly he could have tracked down Astor and Cody. I want the siblings back together!!!
