I really love stimming with my tangles, but rocking and hand flapping are some of my favorites as well, I just didn’t feel comfortable posting pictures or videos of myself. A friendly reminder

Collecting DNA data in order to discover actual treatments and cures for actual diseases is science, and it is awesome.

Creating a database of genomes of people who aren't diseased or need a 'cure' in order to advocate for prenatal genetic testing and eradication of fetuses with possible autism is eugenics, and it is abhorrent.

Random Rant Before I Go Study Mishna/Torah

A friend of mine just had his mother tell him that she would have wanted to "cure" him if she could. He was almost incomprehensible on the phone when he called me and the conversation only lasted three and half minutes. In class today, we talked about random stuff like progressive rock bands and a novel he's writing. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but he basically implied a story line of this: 1) rants about why Autism Speaks is bad; 2) his mom explains how she would want to "cure" him; 3) he reacts poorly; 4) she punishes him for reacting poorly. I'm going to end this rant the only way I can, with a quote of course!

As always, the explanation of how this Tumblr works before the quotes: these quotes have not been altered other than redacting the subject, changing the grammar/flow to match more (Nazis had a strange way of speaking), and the numbers (which are redacted). One is from Autism Speaks' website/videos, and the other is from a Nazi or other Social Darwinist/Eugenicist.
