Mattheo wanted to keep you away from the dark side. He didn't want you getting involved in his father's business. He didn't want to be involved in his fathers business. He didn't exactly have a choice, though. But you did. You could choose to stay away from the war, the constant pain the pressure of doing something so wrong that it would give you nightmares. But even then… you chose to join them. Mattheo was sitting quietly next to his father at Malfoy Manor. He had been blocking out most of what was being discussed. "We have a new member." His father announced. Mattheo's gaze stayed trained on the table. He didn't care for all this. He heard the door open and a set of soft footsteps. His eyes snapped up. He could recognise your footsteps anywhere. You didn't look at him or any of his friends. You walked up to Voldemort, bowing in front of him. "My lord," You said, your voice raspy. Voldemort pulled out his wand, his bony fingers barely wrapping around the hilt. "Give me your arm, girl." He hissed. You held out your left arm, your sleeve pushed back to your elbow. Mattheo watched as his father pressed the tip of his wand to your forearm. He wanted to scream, to tell his father to stop, to tell you to get out of here. But he didn't. He watched like a fool as his father etched the mark into your skin. He watched your eyes glaze over from the pain. You blinked away the tears, bowing again and made your way to an empty seat. Mattheo's eyes followed you. You finally looked at him once you were seated next to Avery II. You didn't look like you regretted your decision; it made Mattheo's heart clench. Why? Why had you done this? He blinked back his rage and his sorrow, knowing his father would sense it if Mattheo wasn't careful. He shot you a look, "We'll talk about this." it said.

severus snape's friends:

lily evans- his first friend/childhood friend & also his first crush, although never reciprocated. taught each other lots of stuff & studied together often. slowly became more and more distant as they got older, and political/moral views changed and developed

avery- one of his roommates. his second friend, first person (other than lily) to stand up for him. severus then began to look up to avery a lot and he became eager to impress him

mulciber- roommates, sort of became friends as he got closer to avery. i imagine mulciber being obsessed with proving himself to the 'cause' & getting severus to do the same

wilkes- roommates, also became friends as he got closer to avery. not as close to severus as avery or mulciber but still count as friends.

lucius malfoy- i think severus looked up to him a lot, and in the death eaters, lucius was kinda in charge of giving voldemort's orders to them & keeping an eye on them. but weren't friends till they were older

narcissa malfoy- became friends though draco. lucius asking severus to look after draco throughout school, and he does which obviously means narcissa is gonna like him. also i feel like they get each other, despite the plethora of differences between them

charity burbage- weren't friends during school, but became friends whilst they were both teachers. very different people, but i think charity would remind severus of lily a bit (in terms of personality) & he'd be clutching onto that
