whenever i see a dog owner refer to their female pet as “bitch” they usually get the same reaction: don’t call her that🥺that’s so mean☹️just say a girl dog???💅

bitch gets used as a synonym for “woman” so often it’s lost its original meaning. and while people try to pretend the word is “reclaimed” and has no negative connotations, and keep throwing it around - “he gets no bitches”, “you’re a bad bitch!” - they still, in the depth of their minds, know it’s a word to humiliate; to show a woman that she’s not a person; to make her scared. and people have empathy for dogs when they get called bitches, but not for women.

in my english class the other day, we were having an open discussion about why women smile by amy cunningham (i recommend this text btw, good read) and the first person to volunteer to talk was a guy. he said that he thought the essay was very outdated and that women don’t really face social pressure to be “smiley”, and thus “approachable”, anymore. this idea was very quickly shut down by a trans man, me, and two other women who all shared our own personal experiences with this issue. male entitlement is crazy, they will literally speak on anything regardless of their level of knowledge on it
